The scale may not tell the whole story

June 29, 2009

Hard gainer here. Been hitting it hard and eating like mad for the past two months. Looking in the mirror, I look more muscular and bigger. Friends agree, but over the past 8 weeks, I’ve barely gained 3 pounds. So, I decided to pull out the TAPE MEASURE. Low and behold, up 0.5inches in the arms, thighs, chest and shoulders each. Up 1.5 inches in the calves and down 0.5 inchines in the waist! My realization is that despite the slow gains, it apparently is quality lean mass. So I’ll keep on the same course for now. If I can post another 2-3 pounds of lean mass in the next two months, that would be awesome! For all of  you out there looking to make gains, check you scale periodically, but don’t forget the tape measure!

Welcome!

Been at my deployed site for a day and a half. Got up this morning with a splitting headache, but managed to drag myself to the gym. Ran 2+ miles and then decided to torture myself by working my legs. My least favorite! Smith machine squats, dead lift with dumbells, leg press and seated calf raises.  I’m not going to get to 190 without some serious leg work.  I’m sure I’ll feel it in a couple of days.  Awaiting my order of Superpump 250.  Excited about trying it out. I’ve heard good things. Please share any ideas, particularly diet, on how I can gain another 15 pounds and still stay fairly lean. Thanks!
