What is the real difference? I am here in Okinawa Japan getting ready to compete in my first bodybuilding competition and found out that I am the only female signed up. We have had two other competitions in June and July that featured both bodybuilding and fitness. The one at Kadena AFB also had only one bodybuilder. The rest were fitness. Is this the latest trend where females are making the shift to fitness. A female who competed in bodybuilding last year, was a fitness competitor this year. Just want some insight on this. Thanks

It is Sunday here in Japan and I am 4 weeks out from my first contest. Nerves are really setting in. More so doubt. Wondering if I can do this. I have so many who have supported me and will be at the contest to support me, I don’t want to let them down. My trainer says things look great to him but you know we are our worst critics! I had to order another bottom and of course since it is coming from the states to Okinawa it is taking way too long to arrive. My hubby and kids are policing my diet. If there is something they are eating and I should not, they make sure I can’t get to it. Irritability has also set in. I feel sorry for those who have encountered it but I cannot control it. Small things like this morning I went to get on the stationary bike and someone beat me to it by seconds. I was mad. Then they didn’t even really use it. I ended up doing an upper body workout and then biked for 45 min and did the stairmaster for 15. Debating on doing my sprints today. Shins are a bit tender. If I don’t, then back to the gym for another 1 hr cardio session. Sorry to just go on but hopefully someone out there understands how I feel. ………..Oh and Happy 4th of July to all!

How do you resist? My in-laws are visiting from the states and they love to cook, everything! Very tempting. I have to avoid going places with them. They are out now eating the breakfast buffet without me. I have 1 1/2 cups of green veggies, egg whites and coffee. Yummy! It has been raining here in Japan so hard to bike outside so to the gym I go for 1 hour on the stationary bike. I have one more week of this torture. Then back to the states they go. I love them to death but never realized how much we ate around them until I was on a restrictive diet.

This Sunday will be 8 week till the competition. Diet is going well. I am relying on black coffee as my fat burner and for energy. 1 gal of water. Carbs have been reduced to brown rice. Tons of veggies and protein but I am managing it. Workouts seem harder. Still maintaining 2 hours of cardio a day. Body fat at 19% so I got some work to do. Any advice?

Looking for female bodybuilders input on where they have purchased their posing suits (2-piece) and what was your inspiration for your music?

Worked another night shift, went and did the 1 hour of cardio when I got off at 0615. Did 100 assisted wide grip pull-ups and then went to bed. Oh I did eat. Only protein and veggies. Woke up and went to advance camp and met up with John. Last night was a series of weighted squats, push ups with knee raises, and more squats. The soreness is starting to wear off. I was so motivated that John has a cardio funk class on Saturday morning. I think to myself, why not, that will take the place of my 1 hr am cardio. It was a good class, worked up a sweat and then it was on to lat isolation. After ingesting 64 oz of H20, I feel great. All I can do is my best when that is not enough, then I will do more but not give up. Can you do another pull down……..yes, yes I can.

Went to advanced camp run by my trainer. It was pretty intense. We worked quads, hamstrings and glutes. I think I felt it a lot more due to the fact I worked hamstrings yesterday and ran 40 min before going into work. As of tomorrow, I will up my cardio to 2 hours a day (1 hr in am, 1 hr in pm). Meeting with my trainer (John) tomorrow. I am happy and feel that he will get me where I need to be. The contest is in 10 weeks. My journey continues. Wow, my hamstrings are still screaming. Just a reminder that I am alive!

Got up this morning and headed to the gym. Did 30 min on the rotating stair and worked my hamstrings, calves and biceps. Felt pretty good. Ate a breakfast of Oatmeal and egg whites and talked to some family back in the U.S. It is Memorial Day here but living on a Military base overseas, it has a strange feeling. Not sad but just silence. I guess the day the rest of the U.S. remembers fallen military, is a everyday event here. Remember the Military…..They are still out there and many are still going.
