Mental Hurdles in the Gym
I would like your inputs on a certain matter that is really messing with my head. I normally wear my Chuck Taylors to the gym, especially when I’m doing lifts like cleans, snatches, squats and deads. They just provide me more stable footing and feel great. Before each of my workouts I like to practice certain other movements like handstand pushups and jump rope double unders. For some reason when I am wearing my Chucks I am lucky to string together 3-5 double unders in a row, but when I wear my running shoes I crank out 40-50 with relative ease….Anyone else have these types of hurdles in the gym? Be it a certain bench you prefer, or maybe a certain thickness pull up bar that if not available throws you off mentally? I am really interested in hearing your story.

Interesting, I dont have the issue with what i am wearing but more so in how I start out. I have to do some overhead pulldowns to stretch my upper body. If I dont, that mental block is there for the workout. I do relate totally! I just found out yesterday i too will have plenty more time coming up to spend workiing out. Have to stay positive and the best is yet to come!
