doing it ourselves

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

I see lots of people on here who take lots of different supplements to make them bigger and it seems, as fast as possible.  I’m not saying that’s wrong; if that’s what you want to do, that’s fine.  Me; I like to "do it my own."  Just me and the cardio and the weights.  I think sometimes we rely too much on something else to help us along.  It’s like giving ourselves a crutch to hold on to.  Maybe we think we can’t do it on our own?  It’s almost like we become co-depent on product.  I think sometimes we get so caught up in phrases like, "grow muscles fast"  or "guarantee to grow muscles."  What about making a commitment to ourselves?  To our own bodies?

no supplements at all

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I decided not to use any (although I was taking whey protein but decided not to use it–I get enough in my real meals)  It’s just that I remembered I never used any before when I was weight training and did fine without them; so, why start now?  Plus, it’s not like I need to add on weight!  So, from now on, no supplements for me.

to creatine or not creatine…

…that is the question.  I was taking it when I first started my program; it was recommended in the Body Bible Sculpting for Men book.  When I told a friend I was taking it, he told me not to.  He said, "it retains water and since you’re trying to loose weight, it may be more of a hinderance than a help."  So, I threw it out and haven’t taken it since. (four months ago)  Sometimes all this supplement stuff is very confussing to me!

some interesting producst out there!

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

while shopping this morning, an interesting product stood out in the aisel; it claimed to drain the fat off your body in no time. (I don’t want to name the product)  there were even the famous "before" and "after" pics to show how well it works.  the pictures even seemed to show that it’ll add muscle to your body.  You could clearly see how the before models were fat and bloated looking.  but, the after photos showed them ripped and trim and muscular.  I’ve come to see these products like this; those people in the pics were always ripped and muscular–it’s just thier "off season pic" we’re seeing.  And guess what?  When they diet down and work out really hard, don’t you think they’ll get back to how they look for that contest?  Sure!  It’s amazing how image is used to sell these products.  For me, I wouldn’t want to put any of that stuff in my body.  I like to do it the old fashioned way; to earn it!
