Random thoughts:
Kathy Griffith was in my office today for a luncheon, which means catered goodness. I avoided the boardroom.
Th weigh/measure-ins at the Jr Nationals are underway in Chicago! Matt’s client Bryce Holmes weighed in at 268!! I can’t wait to see who places. I’ll be sure to post up pics of the Class A Figure winner in here to see what the trend is in rewarding physiques, if they stay as soft as at the Jr USA.

What a delightful start to my workout. After my warmup sets, I went to get the 40s off the rack for my first working set. Granted, I have pressed the 50s in the past, but I’m 10 weeks out and I’m not trying to set PRs, I’m trying to retain muscle and avoid injury. So anyway, I pick up the 40s and this guy starts talking to me. I can’t hear him, as I have my music on, so I put down a DB to remove one bud from my ear. And for what?
For, ‘Aren’t those a little heavy for you?’
‘No.’
‘That’s the same weight I use.’
‘Well, you’re ****ing small.’
‘I used to be big. I was like 220.’
‘That’s not big, and I don’t care.’
‘Well, that’s still a lot of weight for you.’
‘What do you want me to lift? The 10s?’
‘That’s what the other girls do I think.’
‘When I want to look like some other girl I’ll let you know.’
I thought he was going to cry. And for the record, if he was ever 220, which is not big, he must have gone on a year long hunger strike since then. Old boy was small and soft. And annoying. At least I got to BS with the other two musketeers during cardio (Danielle and Grace).

Luckily, I got home just in time to avoid the downpour. Weather patterns are just plain weird.
Since it was an off day, I went to the fish market (got flounder, lemon sole and halibut) and cooked some bison for the next few days.

Maybe I’d wake more rested if Zoe didn’t insist on bringing me all her balls and toys in bed at midnight. I’m sure she means well but it’s not working out in my favor.
I know I’m well into my diet when I can’t sleep on the train anymore. I don’t know what it is, but once I’m deeper into my prep, I never get the naps I’m used to during my commute the rest of the year.

My cardio until further notice will be walking backward on the treadmill. This seems to be the only method of movement that doesn’t bother my hip flexors. I have ice on the left one now, as it is noticeably worse. If I could just walk around backward all day I’d be cool! I did light deads so I wouldn’t aggravate them even worse. What a buzzkill that is, going from 225×5 to 135×15, lol. My old, brokedown body misses moving real weight, but I feel like I was beaten in my sleep, just sore all over. Tomorrow is a very welcome off day.

Random thoughts:
I have discovered a great diet saver for those of you who have cravings for sweet things, especially when it’s hot out. Skinny Dippers are one oz ices, made with Splenda, that are carb and calorie free per serving. They come in lemon and orange and are GREAT! I bought them at a Duane Reade store, but I emailed the manufacturer and they said that it will be carried at Pathmark, Cost Cutters, Drug Fair, King Kullen, A&P, Super Fresh, Waldbaum’s and Food Emporium within the next month or so. Yes, these are mainly east coast locations, as the brand is from Farmingdale, NY.

I haven’t been in the gym without doing some real lifting since last season. It was really weird not to even go downstairs to the weights. I did hit up the foam roller after getting some suggestions to do so. There were some ‘Ah’ moments, as well as some ‘Ow’ moments, but overall I get the appeal now. Unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing for my hip flexors, which are still bothering me pretty bad.

I did a Vitamin Shoppe demo, laundry, some produce shopping and messed with the cats. Zoe doesn’t like bamboo shoots.
The day after cheat day there is just no hunger at all.

When switching into a new split, things can sometimes get weird for the first week, and that’s what happened. I just trained arms on Friday, and here I am hitting them again on Sunday. I lightened the load by 2 sets, but honestly I didn’t have a hard time. I did have a hard time with the bike, though. No more of that for me; if I bike it’ll be the recumbent only, as that seat is all wrong.
Warmup sets not listed.

So yes, I did wake up a lb lighter - 120! - so I got to have my cheat. This was the first time I was a bit let down by it. I simply didn’t enjoy the food as much as I typically do. The anticipation beat the prize this week.
There was an amazing thunderstorm afterward, though. Some of the craziest lightning I’d ever seen.
Therma Pro was taken instead of Thermo Fire since I left the bottle in my desk at work. I like the TP, too!
