Random thoughts:

My job is slowly killing my soul. I am trying to find a word to express feeling strongly about not caring, as contradictory as it sounds. I am inventing vehement disinterest.

The male trainers at my gym lately feel the need to puff out their chests and square their shoulders when I approach. Gentlemen (and I use this term loosely), you are not swole. Period. If my 130 lb frame is intimidating, perhaps you should address your training, not your posture.

‘The unreal is more powerful than the real, because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on.’

Arms!

Thursday, March 27th, 2008
Fun arm training; supersets. I was only going to do 12 sets but I felt good so I threw in one last superset at 90 lbs on the cables. Strength is creeping back after taking down time. Both my bi’s and tri’s were full as hell by the end of this session and I could barely stretch them well. I am paying more attention to the time and quality of my PWO stretching since my new chiropractor chastised me, and deservingly so. While I do stretch, I know I typically half ass it.

Warmup not listed.

Jessica Paxson-Putnam to appear on MTV Show “Made”

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

After appearing on the covers of both FLEX and Muscle and Fitness magazines, it was only a matter of time before Jessica Paxson-Putnam made her way to the screen. Not the big screen - yet at least. But Paxson-Putnam informed us recently that she is currently filming an episode of the MTV television show Made.

“I got a call from a friend the week before the [FLEX] Swimsuit shoot and she told me they were interested in shooting me for MTV’s Made,” Paxson-Putnam said. “I guess they saw pictures of me in FLEX and Muscle and Fitness. So I made a five minute video of myself, sent it to them, and the producer contacted me the next day.”

According to Paxson-Putnam, the producers of the show told her she could reveal no further details at the present time. Except for this:

“I’m going to be filming for several weeks,” she said. “I’ll have more details to come. I’m excited, it’s a great opportunity.”

According to Paxson-Putnam, the show is slated to air in a couple months.

You can see more photos of Jessica in last year’s swimsuit issue by going here:  http://www.flexonline.com/photogalleries/jessicaputnam/index.htm

Random thoughts:

This is what I refer to as the Easter Leftovers Diet.  I’m poor, bulking, and not wasting food.

I met with my new tax guy today. I think he’s pretty cool but I could be wrong since he has a very thick Portuguese accent and I’m not always sure what he’s saying.

Easter with the family was interesting. I was brave and wore a white shirt despite being surrounded by about 15 crazy children from newborn to teen and stayed clean until about 5 minutes before leaving when Uncle Steven got beer on me.

‘Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.’

NYSC is NOT hardcore

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008
Returning to my regular gym was pretty anti-climactic after being exposed to the facility that is Strong and Shapely. I’ll be returning there on Sunday probably to train with Vinny Galanti which is pretty damn cool in my book. I like when I can get someone to push me on occasion since I’m quite conditioned to train solo. Anyway, my sub par gym used to have a deadlift station which was pretty neat. It was a raised platform with a barbell rest about hip high. I typically do deads by backing out of the 3 squat racks, but since there were 2 people squatting (record!) and one fool curling 65 in the racks, I went looking for the station described above. Now, they have been moving stuff around a bit lately, but after asking, I was informed that it was discarded. I hate my gym more every day.

WCW wrestler found dead in Buckhead home

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/24/08
Former WCW wrestler Chase Tatum was found dead late Sunday afternoon of an apparent accidental drug overdose, his father said.

Tatum, 34, was recovering from back surgery 10 days earlier to repair a degenerative disc. His father, Roy Tatum of Kennesaw, said his son had been battling a painkiller dependence for years but had made plans to enter a rehabilitation facility in Miami.

“He was in the process of getting his life back together,” the elder Tatum said Monday evening. “He was confident he was going to turn things around, to live a normal life again without those painkillers.”

Chase Tatum’s body was discovered by a friend at his Buckhead home around 4 p.m. Sunday. He was unresponsive and could not be revived by emergency personnel. A toxicology report has been ordered by the Fulton County Medical Examiner, which will take anywhere from six to eight weeks, said Laura Salm, an investigator with the coroner’s office.

“He laid down, went to sleep and woke up in heaven,” his father said.

Chase Tatum was 19 years old when he won the Mr. Georgia bodybuilding competition. He was always a big kid, his father said, An online movie resume described him as 6-feet, 3-inches tall and 265 pounds.

He began a career as a personal trainer, which he continued doing until his death.

Tatum’s wrestling career was unplanned and short-lived.

One of his clients was a WCW personality who encouraged him to audition. Tatum was accepted on his first try, debuting in 1999. He quickly gained notice; an online fan club dubbed him “WCW’s coolest young jobber.”

His dad, however, advised his son against becoming a pro wrestler.

“How long can you last in that field?” Roy Tatum said. “They go in with their eyes closed, think they’ll make some quick money and then get out.”

Tatum retired after about two-and-a-half years. The brief wrestling stint left him battling severe back problems but without health insurance to pay for the surgery.

The painkillers kept him going, his father said, and despite his dependence, Tatum found success as an actor. He landed a substantial role in the low-budget comedy, “Who’s Your Caddy?” in 2007 alongside costar rapper Big Boi of Outkast. He also worked as a road manager and personal assistant with Outkast.

“He loved working with them,” said his father, also an actor. “He got to see Paris, Germany and Japan.”

He said his son had just landed a major role in a movie that was to be filmed in New York. In his spare time, Chase Tatum enjoyed spending time with his young nephew, Jake, the son of Chase’s younger brother Colin.

“He was at his brother’s house more than his own,” Roy Tatum said.

Chase Tatum’s funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta.
