Random Lifting

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Quick workout, both in duration and tempo. I wanted to go through it with little rest so I’m not too shocked at Saturday’s audition. Now when Sunday rolls around I’ll be back on my normal training split again and will be happy to be back on a routine again. I thrive on mundane and change makes me nervous.

2 Thermo Fire taken pre-workout.

Random thoughts:

After trying a bunch of dumb medicine, some Thai soup was what helped more than anything. I did return to work today, though I took a later train in just to make sure I’d get a seat. I’m nowhere near feeling well enough to stand for an hour on the subway and will probably do the same thing again tomorrow. Little did I know that my boss was out sick yesterday as well (today too) so I definitely had a lot that had to be done with a less-than-clear head today. Honestly, I did put my head down a few times so I could refocus.

I think it’s high school week at the gym.

Did you ever notice that a person’s whole personality can change with a haircut?

Sweat!

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008
So, I thought this was going to be a nice, ease-my-way-back kind of training day. It began as planned. After lifting, I proceeded to the locker room to grab my magazine and hit the treadmill and along the way to begin my nice, pleasant incline walking, Grace said, ‘Hey, why don’t you do this kickboxing class with me?’ Strangely, I heard myself say, ‘Ok, what time does it start?’ I haven’t done anything resembling high intensity cardio in a very long time and I had sweat running down the crack of my behind. I certainly would never do this more frequently than once a week (if that often) since I can’t spare the muscle, but I actually think it was a good move to prepare me for the AG audition.

Frustration

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Just a little update. I ‘trained’ yesterday after taking the weekend off.

4 sets of BW pullups, 2 sets of DB Bulgarian split squats, 2 sets of machine leg press, and a pathetic 15 minutes on the CardioWave. Then my friends told me I looked like I was dying and to take my sorry ass home.

Nutrition has been mostly protein shakes (finished my PB Pure Whey, still using Vanilla Advanced Whey) with added fiber from Fiberlyze or psyllium husk powder. I also picked up a powdered greens supplement from Vitamin Shoppe since I haven’t been getting in veggies. I did have a few bowls of oats and some wonton soup yesterday, and I had some chicken today after sleeping for eleven hours.

I think I may hit up the Thai place for some Tom Yum later. Maybe the spices can clear me up a bit.

Random thoughts:

Macros are estimated because I went out for Meal 6 (though almond oil was consumed when I got home).

I’m stocked up on sugar free Halls and I’m miserable. Who seriously goes from having a hard time chewing to a hard time swallowing?

Sashimi was pretty easy to eat, though. I may try to pick up some again, but that gets expensive quickly.

Sick?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008
Wow - February already! I realized today how much people just lallygag at the gym. A friend from the office arrived there at the same time as me. I completed my warmup, arm training and cardio before she was even done with her workout. Then again, it was arm day and they don’t need much of a beating, which is a good thing because I feel terrible. My throat is really inflamed and sore.

Tooth healed, Attitude intact. ;)

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008
I’m baaaaaaaaaack. I can lift. I can chew. I am unstoppable, dammit! I’m also extremely irked by the lack of logic at my gym. Apparently there was some hot sh*t racquetball guy who was there to play against the members (and sell tshirts). Now, I don’t have a problem with that. I do have a problem with doing this all at the court that is directly in front of the entrance to the women’s locker room. The last thing I need to do in order to access a toilet is push past a bunch of sweaty, portly, middle aged men who refuse to budge even after a well annunciated, ‘Excuse me’ because they don’t want to tear their eyes off this racquet wielding hero.

Although it was a ‘heavy’ back day, I didn’t push it too much because I was a bit scared to raise my BP too high and start bleeding from the mouth.
