Back home at my cruddy gym

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

It was back to Brooklyn for an AM training session before running errands and visiting the family. Though my gym is nowhere near as nice as the one I got to use in Buffalo, at least I know where everything is. My hamstrings are sore as hell from SLDLs the other day since it had been a while due to my lower back feeling tight. It is a welcome return.

Random thoughts:

I’m really glad I got away for a little while. I think a long drive on my own was exactly what I needed. Plus, it was just beautiful to see the sun come up in the snow covered hills; I felt like I was in a postcard.

I got my clothes to wear at the Arnold Expo. The good news is that everything fits. The bad news is that all the pants have to get hemmed since I’m vertically challenged.

Sorry, readers!

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I’m skipping a week in updates since I’m too far behind!  Let’s begin again with this weekend and pretend I’m not terrible at updating while dieting sometimes, lol.

I didn’t train on Friday since I had a migraine yet again. I must be the only person who can diet and have tummy issues and actually gain weight. My body is on strike. I left work and crashed out early with an ice pack, then woke up really early to drive up to Buffalo in the morning to do a few demos. I was able to train at a really beautiful Gold’s Gym up there; I wish I had a gym like this one!

Warmup sets not listed.

We had intended to train on Friday, but my lazy boyfriend fell asleep and I wasn’t going without him considering I never get to see the bastard. So, there’s an unscheduled off day for you. Then Saturday we trained at Frenchie’s Gym with the Animal Barbell Club, including Vinny Galanti. I’ll upload some pics from that later. Honestly, it wasn’t a very good training day. It was absolutely freezing in there and despite spending some time on the bike to warm up and then about 15 sets of 20 rep warmups, I still didn’t feel warm enough to train comfortably. I didn’t go under 12 reps to avoid potential injury.

2 Thermo Fire taken pre-workout.

Leg Press

Random thoughts:

As usual, Danny’s flight was delayed, but not too bad this time. It really stinks that he can bulk all the way through the Arnold and wear a polo shirt while I look longingly at his meals that contain oats or brown rice.

I can insulate a mansion with the fat in my triceps.

Triceps, how romantic

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008
Surprisingly, there were actually quite a few people at the gym on Valentine’s Day at 10PM. Who knew? I’d say it was a nice display of dedication by those people, but honestly there was a lot more talking than training on the gym floor.

Random thoughts:

I watched Ninja Warrior for a few minutes when I got home from the gym. Pretty cool stuff and they have Olympic athletes compete on it.

It is snowing like crazy.  Winter stinks.

No call yet from NBC.  It’s not looking good.  Oh, well.  I couldn’t give it any more than my best!

I’m pooped.  Time to go to sleep so I can get up way before the sun again!

Rest Pause Training

Friday, February 15th, 2008

As usual, life gets in the way of my training split. I won’t be able to train tomorrow (I’ll explain then, it’s a secret) and I felt like crap yesterday, so I tried to make up for it the best I could today. I also woke up at 4:30am for cardio since I am way behind for 2 1/2 weeks out of the Arnold. This will be done again tomorrow. I also held contractions on all reps of all sets.

2 Thermo Fire taken pre-morning cardio.

30 minutes CardioWave done upon waking.

Bastardized DC Type Stuff

Rev Grip PullDowns
RP - 110×13, 10, 8 = 31

American Gladiators

(written last Sunday)

AG - Audition was GREAT!! Although we got there super early - before 7am and they opened the doors at 10am - and we were near the beginning of what turned into a crazy line, I was NY-116 ie the 116th person they saw in NY. Kim Klein auditioned (what name is she using now?) but she was VIP and sat in a warm Starbucks until her appointment while we suffered in the cold/rain. Grace Rivera, her fiancee Tony and I went together. I saw Jamie Reed and before I could say ‘Hi’ she was POOF gone.

After the physical assessment there is an interview. Mine went really well. The NBC guy told me that I kicked ass in the trials, and we chatted like old friends, it went easily and I was comfortable. He said that he really liked me and that even though I was short I’d make a good Gladiator and that he’d push for me when they discussed the candidates over the next few days.

The next step would be a second interview, and if that went well, LA. So basically, I’m just hoping for the phone to ring before Thursday and that my height won’t work against me too much. I’m pretty sure that if I was 5′8 I’d have this in the bag.

You would not believe the line. It literally circled the block and hit the start at one point. I took pictures.

I never did receive a call, so it looks like a resounding NO, lol.
