Boxing

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

I just finished my second boxing class last night. I love the class. The first hour is straight cardio and the second is boxing. One of the things that killed me is the jump rope. I haven’t jump roped since elementary school. My calves are extremely sore, but its the good kind of sore. The funny thing about this class is that no matter how in shape I thought I was, I am finding out that I’m only in shape in one aspect of training instead of totally being in shape. Thats a little confusing. Anyway, boxing is a lot of fun and everyone should try it.

I got burned

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Its been fairly hot lately, so I decided to take the family to the beach today. Many of our friends came with us and we had a blast. The water was warm, the marine layer burned off around noon, and my kids were having fun. I felt like I was in a Corona commercial. The problem came when I sat in the car and turned on the ac. For whatever reason, when I’m at the beach I can never tell if I’m frying or not until its too late. Well, today in the car my skin was on fire. I tan easily so my burn won’t last till the morning, but if frickin hurts!

Boxing

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I’m in the process of becoming a Sheriff. I been training for little less than an year. I have been lifting a lot, but I have avoided cardio for most part. I just don’t want to run on a treadmill, I want something challenging, fun, and hard. So I have decided to start boxing. I’m going to take my first class on Monday, I hope all goes well.

Without Fail, something always tries to interrupt!

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I started my first three week blitz a few weeks ago. The first week went great. I gained a few pounds and I started to lean out. I was feeling pretty good about the whole thing. I got all excited about the end of the three weeks and what the results might be. But, without fail, The second week was totally sketchy because of my work schedule and the third week was even worse. What the crap! Doesn’t it seem that everytime you try something new something always has to interrupt it? As for the results, I did gain more muscle than I expected and did lose some bodyfat. I guess the thing that I can take from this experience is that even though my workouts were interrupted, I still can gain muscle fairly quickly and drop fat. Next week I will start a new three week blitz. I will post a pic of the results to see if there is some change from my last pics.

The First Week

Monday, June 9th, 2008

I have just completed my first week of my three week blitz. I feel great. I have notice a slight change in my overall size. I really like Nitrotech Hardcore. Last monday I weighted myself at 188, today I weighted in at 192. I’m starting to see a slim down in my mid-section. So far, I’m happy with the results.

Three week blitz

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I’m about to start my three week blitz. I know its kinda of a cheesy name, but I can’t think of anything else. Anyway, my goal is to work my body twice in one week. Let me explain, Chest and Legs on Monday will be my hard day and Wednesday will be my light day for Chest and Legs. I also will incorporate at least  20 mins of cardio. My plan is to do cardio in the morning and lift after work. I’m trying so new supplements and I’m hoping that in three weeks I will see a change. If anyone has any pointers they wish to pass on to me, that would be great.

I was thinking

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Since I have applied at the Sheriff’s Department they have been asking me to writing several short essays on different topics. One of those topics was my core values. Its been so long since I have thought about such a topic. It made me really think about what drives me, what I hold close to, and the way I live my life. At first it was easy to throw out a few good ones, but the problem was I couldn’t really explain why they matter to me. So I really had to think and dive deep. By the end of the essay, I realized how much of the values actually played a role in my everyday life. I have two kids, one the age of 2 1/2 and one 4 1/2. Everyday I’m trying to teach my children how life works, what is right and wrong, for my son, how to treat a lady, and for my daughter, how a man should treat her and how she should treat a man. I understand that they are young, but I believe that it is essential to teach now when I have their attention. Anyway, I hope everyone gets the chance to dig deep and really find what values they hold close.

I find it funny

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I find it funny that I’m working out so much, taking great supplements, and have been downing more protein then ever. The funny part is that the supplements and protein tend to make bloated. What the heck? So all I can do is take in more fiber.

Thank you all

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

So I have always been one to be very active. From 15 years of soccer to weightlifting,  I have always loved to play hard, work hard, and feel the soreness the next day. Since I have been involved with this website I have learned so much. I have always had loose goals that I would like to achieve, but it never seemed to work. I thought that I wasn’t working hard enough or maybe my diet was off or it was genetics. I have been greatly encouraged by many profiles, because people have been open about their own struggles and what they have done to overcome them. I finally realized what  were some of the problems in my attempts to gain muscle and get lean. I have since come up with a solution and will start it by Monday. I’m excited. Thank you all for helping me, even when you might not have realized it.

Keeping up the pace

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

I wonder how many people know the crazy schedule that comes with having kids. Seriously, I think we have to be nuts. Don’t get me wrong I love my kids, but rest is not something that comes easy. Sometimes I find it hard to get up and go to the gym. My body is so tired and doesn’t want to move. And then the conversation begins, "you need to go to the gym", "why, I need rest", "you can rest between sets", "seriously, come on", "you’ll regret it", "ok fine, but only ten minutes of cardio", "fine". So maybe  I’m crazy or maybe  someone knows what I’m talking about.  Anyway,  I changed up my schedule to find a time that works best. I think thats the point, finding the time that works best.
