I’ve already ridden about 30 miles this weekend on the bike. After riding over 15 miles on friday, I did a back workout that included deadlifts. My son hasnt been riding his bike lately and it told on him during this workout. His hamstrings were cramping up before he finished the shower after his workout. The morning, he squeezed mine, expecting them to be sore—HA HA HA!!!! THey werent…So to keep the cardio up, I rode another 12 miles today. I still dont have any soreness in my legs from that workout, which means that I need to do more to tax my newly powerful hammies. My son? HE get to still look sexy and party all weekend, no matter HOW wimpy he is….lol

You know how they always tell you to get a physical before you START a work out program– and no one listens?!?! Well I went and got a physical and some blood work done. Blood pressure normal; heaet rate normal and I’ve lost 10 pounds since I started riding my bike regularly….my son tricked me into going to the "Y" with him to workout… so that’s where we did our back work out. It was ok, but Im allergic to paying for a gym membership with over 500 lbs in weights in my basement….. oh well… at least is was a "free trial" workout. new pics should be coming soon.

I consider workingout for the summer to be a less-than-pure endeavor. Of COURSE everyone wants to look good for the summer, so are you REALLY dedicated if you’re working out for the summer? So now im back in the serious workout mode.
We did an abreviated chest workout to try to ourselves acclaimated to the concept of heavy weight again. With limited chest soreness that lasted less then 24 hours, we were able to re-work them again. That’s what we did in combination with an abreviated shoulder workout. Not bad, pretty good pump.
In the mean time, my son and I have both been putting in some mileage on our respective bikes. On the 9th I rode 5-4 miles, minimum. A few days before that, I rode 10 miles. My problem is that without a proper diet and supplements, I have been losing mass/strength. I added a few more supplements and calories in hopes of gaining back some lost muscle. I keep pushing myself while I’m riding like I do in the weight room, which is good as long as I dont mind the nausea and the leg shakes for hours afterwards. On the positive side, my recovery time between sets is ALOT better as well as my general sense of well being. Until next time…

Riding my bike has become a priority for me now. I havent been lifting as much as I was before and I need to strike some sort of balance. I need to alter my diet too…Apparently my SON doesnt have such problems…he just eats and does what he wants and gets results—to be 17 again….lol Well hopefully I’ll get my diet in enough of an order where I can actually start GAINING size while im lifting…I’m acutally SCARed to take post workout pics now….Im afriad that I lost too much size. My belly has gone down though. I Can see that everytime I look in the mirror and in general, my body is starting to look alot more like it did when I was younger. Again my only regret is that I havent increased my bench press AT ALL during the summer. In fact I dont think I can even MATCH what I was doing in JUNE now… Um I hope everyone is doing well with their workout…

Its been a month since I posted here. In that month, I’ve purchased a mountain bike and started riding almost daily. I was inspired by my son riding his bike 20 miles a day to an from work. Just cuz Im stupid, I decided to ride half way to work with him one day. Well to make a long story short, I rode up and down so many hills that I KNEW i was gonna die a FEW times. When I stopped at the halfway point, panting like an asthmatic, my son said his good bye and all I could muster was a middle finger to show him… we laughed and then I went home.
Since that day I’ve been riding from 5 to 10 miles per day just about everyday. The cardio has improved my weight lifting noticeably. Recovery time between sets is shorter and general feeling of well being on workout days is pretty noticeable as well. My ass hurts though. My legs hurt for an entire week so I took a coupla days off to let them rest. I guess that’s it… Talk to you later.

OK my son is in acting camp on a college campus. So guess what he does? He works out at the college gym–without me…sigh So guess what I have to do–work out with him my spotter and workout partner as well as the key pain in the ass that bugs me to workout. SO I start my workout and then he asks for a ride to work in the middle of my workout. SO I do my first 4 sets of the bench and then drive him to work ( about an hour bothways) and then continued my workout. I over did it. Again. I hurt bad. Again. Well then I’ll just keep doing this until it doesnt hurt anymore. By then I’ll be in shape… or dead lol. Im losing some weight so im not really gaining that much muscle
but that’s what summer is for, right?
IN a few more weeks I will surpass the longest that I have continually worked out in the last 10 years. SO even though I’m not as consistent as I would like to be, I’m doing better now than at any other time as an adult raising children…. Until next time…

I haven’t been working out as regularly as I should. Between the heat wave, school schedules changing, day camps, etc I just havent been eating or working out properly. My son and I did a massive tricep work out two days ago, they’re still sore.
Since my bench is my pet lift, I’ve been concerned that they’ve been a weak point in my bench–therefore, we blitzed them. Ouch they’re still VERy sore….the good news is that they’re a small muscle group, the bad news is that they’re still sore. VEry sore…
Next up is some rotator cuff exercises tonight in around 45 mins gotta keep those strong for the bench as well. That work out will be pretty extended and should effectively releive me of working out until wednesday at the earliest. Wednesday we’ll hit the chest again and move on from there….

yesterday, My son and I did an extended back workout in the park. The last back workout I did, I had a hangover, so I felt like I owed myself a REAL back workout. My son missed the last workout because he had to work. SO this one was sorta like a mulligan.
THe workout went pretty well and uneventfully except for a coupla things. For one, my son did 15 pullups for each of his first 2 sets.. Dayum I wish I were lighter and/or stronger.
For two, a group of children from the neighborhood came over and watched/joined us in the workout. The kids ranged in age from about 14 down to about 8. THe oldest was an overweight girl of 14 that had a belly that came to about the middle of her thigh. Everything on her was soft and squishy but that wasnt a problem for me, everyone has their own hurdles to overcome to even GET to the road of fitness. My problem with her came in what she said to her (about) 10 year old little sister who was nimbly flipping on the rings after doing 4-5 pullups. The overweight teen told her younger sister that playing on the monkey bars like that "wasnt lady-like". I wondered who told HER that, and if that had led to her obesity. I was so filled with disbelief, I couldnt say ANYTHING– I could only look at her. Sadly, she left immediately afterward.
We then had to leave the park at night fall (city rules) and finish the workout back at the basement. We added deadlifts and needless to say, we’re quite sore.

Ok well I went out drinking with my best buddy on the planet for the last 25+ years the night before my last back workout. This man my buddy Scott is the living embodiment of THE WORKOUT DEVIL. I’ve been calling him that for years and you guys might think im exaggerating–but trust me, I’m NOT. THis guy is an a$$hole with a heart of gold at 6′1 and about 340 pounds of carefully place FAT….lol He laughs at every attemp I’ve made to get him to work out for at LEAST the last 15 years.
Well anyway we went out drinking and I had5-8 beers ( I lost count) I’m usually drunk after 2 beers (cheap date) so after at least 5 I was DONE. The next day I was visited by the gods of imbibing too much–the dreaded hangover. AFter being in the fetal position most of the day, eating a banana and drinking plenty of water I decided that it was time to work out. I took the kids to the park. The very THOUGHT of drinking my Nano Vapor Orange blast was nauseating but I drank it anyway. 5 minutes later THERE WAS NO TRACE OF A HANGOVER. Im not kidding and Im NOT a muscle tech rep. I ALMOST wanna get a hangover again just to make sure. So take note people NANO VApor–the cure for my hangover.
