"My goal is to get to 220 lbs. by December 15th of this year. I MUST do this to honor my commitment to myself, my wife, my kids, my dad and brothers, and the promise I made to my mother."

Member Guest tourney melt-down

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

The numbers speak for themselves…Dad up 6.6 lbs., me up 1.8 lbs., Matthew up 5.6 lbs.; and Mark was even. As of this coming Monday we (Me, Matthew, & Mark) have 6.5 months to get the weight off for the trip qualification. We are all limping thru this weekend due to graduation & birthday parties.  Next weekend is a 4 day golf tourney my dad and I are playing in together.  As a matter of fact, it is the very tourney that one year ago I told Dad we needed to do something about our weight…  Should be a good time to reevaluate what we’ve done, where we are, and where we are going.

Have a good weekend.

No weigh in this morning…

We are in a member guest golf tourney this weekend, so no weigh-in this morning.

Quick update

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Dad is in a golf tourney in Charleston so didn’t weigh, Matthew is running a 5 k this morning with his girls and couldn’t weigh, Mark was down .6 lbs., and I was up 1.4 lbs.  Had a pretty cruddy week of eating, and missed quite a bit of excersize due to travel schedule and slack attitude.  Not too much more to say other than I had better get my mind RIGHT!!!

Duncan boys come back strong…

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Dad hit a home run and was down 5.8 for a new loss of 68 lbs. and a new total of 198.4.  Just 8.4 more to get where the doctor wants him, but his original personal goal was 65 lbs. so congratulations are in order.  I hit a triple and was down 4.2 for a new loss of 57.8.  Matthew hit a single but got to 2nd on an error and was down 1.6 lbs. for a new total of 81.4 lbs.; and Mark got back in the game with a bunt and was down .8 for a new loss of 38.2.  Mark had better start running or Matthew is going to pass him on the way to home plate…

Hope to have my total 11.2 lbs. gain from last week off by next Saturday.  But on the two other occasions I have had gains over a 2 week span since starting this program it has taken 3 weeks to get off what I put on in 2!  Just have to keep taking it one day at a time.

Have a great week.

Nailed it

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Happy to say I nailed my first day in a couple of weeks eating clean, and recording my points.  It would not be such a big deal, but Saturday’s and Sundays are always the toughest because I am so relaxed being with my family.  Knocked out some McCann’s oatmeal  (Steelcut!!!) for breakfast and planning for a good day today on this Lord’s Day.  Nice and rainy here in NC.  Will have to push myself to the gym today though…

Duncan’s call for RE-START!

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Here is the deal…we have all been fiddle-farting around for a while now.  As of this morning, we are calling a re-start to the process.  Dad has given a huge measure of grace for multiple reasons and pushed the weight dead-line back to December 15th of this year to qualify for the trip that has been moved to next Summer.  This will allow all of us to reach our goals using a healthy approach of proper eating and exersize, and not sucking weight like a high school wrestler.  It is time to get back to the basics…eating clean, recording points, and working out.

That being said, I have royally screwed up over the last 10 days since Dad gave us the reprieve on the July 31st date.  I have traveled A LOT, and eaten whatever I felt like.  Really no restraint, but not power eating either.  Just going with the flow, and not tracking any points, and not weighing every morning.  And what that got me was a 11.2 lbs. gain in the last two weeks since weighing in.  And I believe most of that has occured this week with one trip in particular.  So I came home from the weigh-in this morning and made a clean breakfast, recorded my points, and I am now back to working this blog and my WW tools.  Dad was up 1.6 lbs. and is at 204.2; Matthew was down 0.6 lbs and is at 251; and Mark was plus 3.6 lbs. and is at 227.2.  Bear in mind that Mark and Dad have to be at 200 lbs. even, and Matthew and I must be at 220 lbs. even.

My plan this week is to loose every pound that I have gained…I am going to be in FL for 3 days at a conference, so proper planning and a strong focus will be the key.  But as I have seen in the past, a world class resort like the Ritz I am staying at also has a world class workout center, and opportunity to eat very clean as well.  Always fresh fruit, plenty of water, and a relaxing atmosphere.  I will be 40 in exactly 4 months, and my goal all along was to hit the 220 mark by my 40th birthday.  This is my new focal point, and is doable!  Please keep checking on the Duncan boys.  We will be in commercials by the beginning of 2010.  Probably for the New Years blast of weight loss commercials that hit every year!  So it will make the readers of this blog feel good to have witnessed the journey!

Have a great week!
