End of Atkins…

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

I weighed this morning and was the same as last week.  I was down on Thursday by 2 lbs. but obviously some major water retention from the ole Atkins approach hurt me this morning.  I ate 2 hot dogs last night…sodium.  Anyway, I am going back to just eating clean using WW’s points.  That is the healthiest approach.  My internal system has been screwed up, and my energy levels are at the bottom doing this no carb approach.  Matthew and Dad are out of town, so they did not weigh.  Mark didn’t show up to my knowledge.  On a VERY positive note, our buddy Scott is back in the race, and he has taken off 24 lbs. in the last 2 months while he has been attending to some other matters.  Good Job Scott.

Weight moving this week!

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

The low carb approach seems to be working…I am down another pound this morning over yesterday!  So another lowest weight in 15 years.  In about 10 more lbs. I’ll hit the lowest weight in 16 years!  At my goal I’ll be back to the ole’ college day’s fighting weight.  Workouts are going good this week, although yesterday I felt a little weak with the KB’s.  But I can’t expect to be on strength wise every workout.  Just kinda ran out of gas at the end when I was swinging.  So I took it to the pool.  Running a little behind this morning, but I am headed to the Y right now.  Probably going to bike, ellip, and then swim a mile.  I have been swimming just qtr and half miles lately at the end of workouts, so I may push it today.

Have a good week.  Hope everyone got their taxes paid so Obama can give it to lazy people that don’t work…

Tax day update…

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Tax day falling on Wednesday certainly makes today HUMP DAY!!!  If everyone got their full pay check (those of us that work that is), and had to mail in all taxes instead of having them taken out, there would be another revolution!

My brother Matthew and I continue on our low carb approach as we dedicated to for the month of April.  I will have to say it is working, but not really any better than just eating clean.  But it is a nice change of pace.  I think it may take more discipline to eat this way than it does to just eat clean.  Less snack options… But we said for the month of April, so we will stick with it.  My weight is falling nicely again.  I weighed my lowest point in 15 years on the scales this morning! YEA!  I need to have off 4-5 lbs. at this weeks weigh-in to be even close to making the July 31st dead-line…This is a real battle, but one that I will finish!  Headed to get in a KB workout now.

Hope everyone enjoys tax day!  Make sure to find yourself a Tea Party to attend today!

What a great day!

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

Got my loosing back on track, had a great workout this morning.  And then my family and another went on a hike to 5365 ft. elevation! The views were beautiful, and more importantly, the straight up hike was invigorating!   That is why I am busting my rear-end!!!  To be able to get out and live life with my family.  I even bought a sweater (colder in the mountains than here in Hickory) that was an XL…  I haven’t worn an XL top of any sort in 16 years!  Thank you for everyone that reads this blog and sends me encouragement.

Week 41…back on track…

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

Here we go with week 41 numbers…Dad was even for the last two weeks, so his total loss is at  63.8 lbs.  I was down 4.4 lbs. from my last weigh-in 2 weeks ago for a new total of 64.8 lbs.; Matthew was down 2.2 for the last week for a new loss of 79.4 lbs.; and Mark is heading right in the wrong direction with a new gain of 4.2 lbs…Not too good.

Dad is still fighting to get off the last couple of lbs. to hit his goal of 65 lbs.  Matthew and I have gotten things headed in the right direction again.  Mark has put on 9 lbs. since Jan.  He hasn’t been working out, and obviously eating is off.  If he keeps mucking around, Matthew is going to lap him!

Matthew and I are both taking a very low carb approach for the month of April just to change it up a little, and shock the ole system.  Low carbs makes takes a little more discipline than just pure WW clean eating, but I am enjoying it.  It has certainly knocked some of the carb cravings that I normally fight out of my system.

My workouts are going very strong.  I got my new 88 lbs. kettlebell in on Wednesday…now I know why they call it the BULLDOG!!!  I did 6 rounds of :30 swings\ 2:00 bicycle for active rest with it yesterday to finish up my kb workout.  Did 4×5 of dbl 53’s C&P, lat pull downs 4 x 8; renegade rows 4×8 w\ 44 kb’s; 1:00 planks 3 x; chest presses with 53’s 3 x 15.  Good workouts!  My trainer, Dan Anderson RKC, is starting his sessions back up next week, so I will get back to training with him 2x per week.  He just got back from training Navy Seals…!  Have to keep pushing it.  I really want to make my goal of 220 lbs. by the end of July in order to set myself up to push to 195 by the end of 2009.

Have a great week and keep in mind that tomorrow is the day that Christ rose from the dead!!!  Other religions worship and \ or follow people’s teachings whose graves you can go and visit, but Christians worship the true risen Saviour who is seated at the right hand of the Father waiting to come and claim His own!

In His Grip!

Quick update

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

Matthew was the only one to weigh in Saturday…he was down 2 lbs.  Dad and I were out of town in a golf tourney.  Mark had to work all night on his hobby job of a deputy. So he couldn’t get out of bed.  Matthew and I are doing the low carb thing for the month of April to see if that gets the weight moving quickly again.  I will know this Saturday.
