Stuck in a rut!!!

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

The Duncan boy’s are stuck in a rut…and we must get out!  Dad lost a pound this week; I gained .4; Matthew gained .6; and Mark’s lazy butt didn’t even make it to weigh-in!

I MUST get off 54 lbs. in 4 months now due to basically wasting the month of March.  FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!!!  That is the key.

Week 39 - Duncan Boy’s

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Numbers are in, although they are not pretty!!!  Dad was down 1 lbs. for the last 2 weeks for a new total loss of 62.8 lbs. and a weight of 203.6 lbs.; I was up 4.2 lbs. since I weighed in 3 weeks ago for a new total loss of 60.8 lbs. and a new weight of 273.6 lbs.; Matthew was even since his last weigh-in for a new total loss of 75.8 lbs. and a new weight of 255 lbs.; and Mark was up 1.4 lbs. since last weigh-in for a new total loss of 45.2 lbs. and a new weight of 218.4 lbs.

Just a reminder to those that read this blog.  Dad and Mark have to be at 200 lbs., and Matthew and I have to be at 220 lbs. by the end of July.  Obviously the whole group needs to stop mucking around, and get on the program.  Me being the main point of concern!!!  My focus has been coming and going over the last 3 weeks, and being out of town the past two Saturday’s and not "officially" weighing in really killed me.  There is a great deal of accountability to stepping on the scales officially and not just at home.  I WILL have a great week this week of eating clean and working out.  I will probably blog daily just to keep my focus on point and the momentum heading in the right direction.  I need one of those Biggest Looser big weeks to feel like I have a chance of making the July 31st goal of 220 lbs.  I welcome ALL kicks in the rear of words of encouragement from fellow BodySpace buddies!!!

Have a great week!

Night before reckoning day…

Friday, March 20th, 2009

All the Duncan boys will be weighing in tomorrow.  I am certain that I will be weighing heavy.  But I have found that I have to weigh in at the meetings or I get off-track with my eating.  Workouts are going great.  Did 3 sets of 8 C&P last night w double 53 KB’s, as well as :30 rounds of swings with doubl3 53’s…  But 80% of loosing weight is the eating…pure and simple.  Time is ticking away to make my goal by the end of July to qualify for the reward trip.  And only one month after that I turn 40 on Sept. 1st, and I MUST meet my goal by then.  Focus has struggled over the last few weeks in the area of eating clean.  Tomorrow’s weigh-in should be a motivator.

I will post new info in the morning.

Hump day update..

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Have a great week going.  Started the double kettle bell phase of my workouts, and can barely walk after two sessions of that this week.  I have also gotten in some great raquetball with my brothers this week on two occasions.  Monday I did this for my cardio then followed up with 20 min’s on the bike.  Yesterday it was an extra workout at lunch since I did a kb wo in the morning.  Eating has been clean.  My mind is back on track…finally.  I wish I could figure out exactly what it is that flips the switch.  I have often said, when I am eating clean and focus is strong, I can’t comprehend how I could not, but when I am not eating clean, I can’t comprehend how to get back on track…  I do know that when the focus, desire, willpower, and determination are there I need to take advantage of it. I when they are waining, I must always stay in the fight until they return.

I am finding that it was good to take last week off from working out.  My mind and body needed the break more than I knew. I am back to looking forward to my workouts, and my energy levels are back up. Also, I am back getting out of bed at 5:00 AM!  Last week I never heard the alarm clock!  Gotta go to the Y!  Time for some bike, elliptical, and treadmill.  Maybe a little half mile swim as well…

Sunday PM

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Okay…first clean day of eating in a while.  All points were recorded on WW’s online tools.  And I did a killer double KB workout before a date with my wife! Eating clean on a date night shows real focus…  Just wanted to let those that read this know that I am back on track!  Have a great week!

Week 38 a bust…

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

I don’t think anyone weighed in yesterday.  Dad was at his Charleston house, Mark and I just didn’t go, not sure about Matthew. I was at the ACC tourney in Atlanta with customers, and got off track. I spent yesterday getting my mind right!  And I am looking forward to making my goal of 243 lbs. by May 2nd! That is 7 weeks of perfection basically to achieve this.

I did purposely take off last week from working out, other than one racquetball match with my brothers on Thursday.  My mind and body were whipped.  Now I have had dreams the last two nights that I was too weak to lift my kb’s and that I had gained all of the weight back.  Obviously, waking up with those kind of thoughts has certainly helped me to re-gain my focus.  Went to Vit. Shoppe and re-loaded on whey, creatine, BCAA’s, glutamine, and vitamins.  I will have to rely on proper sleep, journaling for focus, planning my food, and supplements to get me to the goal set for just 7 weeks away.  I will call Matthew today and set up some real in-your-kitchen accountability between the 2 of us.  He wants to get the same amount of weight off in the next 7 weeks as I do.  So we can help each other.  Main difference is that I will still have 23 lbs. to loose and he will be at his goal.

Sorry for being off track the last 2 weeks.  We will make sure that ALL the Duncan boys are back at weigh-in this Saturday so we can finish the race!  Have a great week.  Headed to the Y after the ACC final game to get in a double KB workout.

Belated week 37 update…

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

My dad was down .8, I was out of town on a field trip with my daughter this past weekend so did not weigh, Matthew was down 1 lbs., and Mark was a no-show with no excuse to my knowledge.

I did not eat clean while on the field trip…the first two days I did and then the last two I did not. We walked all over DC, but walking just doesn’t make up for bad eating.  I am hoping to be back in town this Saturday with a break even.  I am headed to Atlanta for the ACC tournament for a few days, and it will be very hard to entertain customers for a few days in Hot-lanta, and eat clean too.  Especially with my focus somewhere out in left field!  The time change is killing me! And I didn’t work out yesterday or today.  Can’t seem to get out of bed at 5:00 AM when the alarm clock goes off…  I am not much of a motivator right now.  But I will stay in the battle.

Monday was a cruddy day!

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

What a off-focus day yesterday was. The Y was closed due to snow, so no work-out, computers down at work, my focus was totally off.  My eating was off, my focus was off, my energy was off, my motivation was off, my attitude was off (no quiet time yesterday morning), it was just an off day.  Back on track today! Just finished great time with the Lord.  Proverbs 3:5&6….That’s what it is all about!

Man I wish the Leadership in our country would realize that we are a nation that was originally chartered by King James to be a Christian nation!!!  Period.  One trip to Williamsburg to learn about the facts of the founding of the United States will show you why we were founded, and on Who we were founded.  God and His Truths!  Moral Absolutes!!!  This left wing liberal moral relativism is going to kill us…  No extra charge for the mini sermon.

Have a great week.
