Chest and AB Day and Blogging

August 18, 2009

Ive decided to start blogging more often just to basically clear the thoughts not that anybody ever reads this dumb thing anyway haha and also since i made a commitment to myself to start being more organized im going to use this as an attempt to do so by charting my workouts daily. Today was my Chest and Abs day. I started off doing a set of dumbell presses to warm up i recall using the 45’s?? Anyways i did 4 sets of 8-12 reps starting with the 70’s and moving up to the 100’s.  On my last set i barely got the 8th rep up but i can remember a very short time ago seeing other people in the weight room dropping the 100’s on the ground and thinking dang thats impressive so i guess i’ve come a little ways. I’ve found myself reading other’s blogs and i dont think there can be any more of a motivation to see others progress and what all they go through to make it happen. Hope everyone has a great week and gets better 1 day at a time. For those of you reading this and dont know i work at a boys home 6 straight days 24 hours a day yesterday a boy that i had grown attached to left because of bad decision making and it liked to have killed me. I took him under my wing sort of and took him to the gym 5 days a week. Going back in the gym today wasnt the same and as a matter of fact it was basically all i had thought about. Roger i know your going to read this so keep your head up and im gonna miss you asking me how many reps i wanted you to do. I wish you the best.

ORGANIZATION and FITPhone?!!!!

August 15, 2009

SO i’ve come to the conclusion that i want my workouts to be completely organized. I know some of you may think well duh thats obvious but it seems like i have a set plan of what im going to do when i get there and then i get caught up wondering and instead of doing press downs i end up doing kick backs and weighted dips or on chest day i’ll do dumbell bench for a few sets and then peel off and end up doing butterflies on a ball. Just seems to chaotic and i need to set up a plan and STICK TO IT COMPLETELY. Recently posted some new pics; I believe by me focusing on my core and legs 200 percent more than i had done previously has paid large dividends but i guess its all in how who looks at it. So ive said it a 100 times but tomorrow is the day that im going to stick with a program so that i dont get my cardio running from exercise to exercise and then back. I found a new ap on the iphone called FITPhone..hmm and it seems to track everything so its going to have to be a trial and error type thing. I think i have become addicted to BB.com i spend about an hour a day i believe being motivated by everyone and seeing the progress that each person makes helps me to squeeze out those extra few reps so Appreciate all the comments and inspiration from you all. Carpe Diem? Stay organized and if all else fails use an iphone haha. Tear it up in the gym this week guys and be safe.

New M&F Magazine

May 30, 2009

So i was reading in the new MF magazine this month about the 100 rep workout. I figured it would be something to off set a mass program and it just about has killed me Yesterday was Chest/Back/Abs day i did 1 set of 100 reps with 25’s on each side and it was def a challenge. Next jumped right into wide grip pushups made it to 63 before reaching muscle failure and pushed out a set of 14 and a set of 13 with 20 sec. rest did pullups (only made it to 50) and barbell rows with just 10’s on each side while i felt weak by only having that much weight that many reps is tough enough with just the bar. But i’ll get there.  Today was equally as tough Shoulders/Biceps/Calves….

Seated Dumbell Shoulder Press 1×100 (with 20lb dumbells)

Lat Raises 1×100 with 15lbs dumbells (SUCKED!!!)

Incline Curls with 20lb dumbells

Standing hammer curls with 25’s.

Dumbell Calf raises 1 leg each 100 reps

then i did jump rope for 1 min intervals with 30 sec. rest i’m workin on it! Overall a good day i plan on keepin this thing to track my progress so i can look back and see that im improving thank you everyone for their support and motivation you guys are great.

Upping the Intensity

April 27, 2009

Recently ran into an old workout partner and got started back up again. I’ve learned quickly that when you have somebody there spotting you as well as competitively pushing you that your lifts increase dramatically. His lifts are quite a bit more than mine but it just pushes me to catch up to an Army ranger. haha Just on the regular bench i went from doing 5×5reps of 205 to a 4 set of 6 reps starting out at 185 and going up to 245. Maybe it was just a good day?? I just really need to work on my diet and choke down some protein to get where i want to be. Needless to say im hooked. Hope everyones training is going well thanks again to all of the pic comments and just inspiration in general.

1st Blog

April 7, 2009

New to Bodybuilding.com.. I have never wrote a blog so im not sure how this really truly works but heres a stab at it. I recently rediscovered bodybuilding.com i’ve now made a commitment to myself that i will stay motivated and get myself in shape as well as achieve/surpass my goals. Throughout high school and college i’ve always been the tall skinny kid who got by in sports because of speed and quickness. Now i’ve come to realize that even though im through with sports and out in the "real world" that i feel much better about myself after i get to the gym. I’m def what you would consider to be a hard gainer. I’m tired of all the people who say " oh dont worry it’ll catch up to you" well that cliche isnt good enough for me. My goal is to put on as much mass as possible and just have more confidence in myself. My strength is increasing but my weight isnt really doing much. Any suggestions on such things as increasing appetite? Meal plans/workouts for hard gainers? Any advice good and bad would be helpful i also wanna say thanks to those who really are motivational and dedicated to what they do on here!
