Ok, I have a "problem" wonder if anyone can shed some light…

I’ve been eating "the bodybuilder way" for about a year and a half now, 5 small meals, every 3 hours, ratios of carbs protein and fat, etc.  Just recently I wanted to try to carb cycle.  Sometimes it takes me awhile, but I think I got a menu that will get me 50% protein and 30% carbs.  Usually it turns out that I’m eating 30% protein and 50% carbs.  I have no problem keeping my fat at 20% or less.

So the other day I tried this menu, and I had 6 egg beaters, with some mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes, and fat free cheddar cheese for breakfast.  Then next meal I had my protein shake with 1% milk.  It’s a low carb/low fat powder.  By lunchtime, I was feeling kind of funny. I wasn’t hungry, but my stomach felt weird.  I ate chicken and sweet potato and a salad for lunch.  But I felt almost like I was going to be sick for quite awhile, while I was eating and afterwards.   I usually have oatmeal for breakfast, and I had been eating yogurt and fruit for my "second breakfast" but I also was experimenting with cottage cheese and whole grain toast, or egg beaters and toast, etc for my first meal, then oatmeal made with milk for my second meal.  That’s been the "usual."

I thought maybe it was a fluke, or maybe I really need the early morning carbs, with my oatmeal?  That was 3 days ago.  Today I thought I’d try again.  I ate 4 egg beaters and 3/4 cup of blueberries for breakfast, and just my protein shake made with 1% milk for my snack.  It’s about 30 mins to lunch, and I’m starting to feel hungry.  I was planning a grilled salmon lunch out, but it got pushed to 1 pm, so I ate some peanutbutter on a rice cake to hold me over.  But I’m feeling that weird feeling again.

What I’m getting at, is do you think this is just because I’m used to eating oatmeal etc in the morning, and now I’m not, or do I really need to eat oatmeal etc in the morning, and I should try something different for a low carb day?  I’m trying to switch the oatmeal/cereal/toast carbs out with more fruit and veggies… is this right?  Or is my body just rebelling against a change?

I don’t want to make myself sick.  I am still on my blood sugar meds… anyone have any suggestions?

thanks!!!
