Group 2 today. I also did my Gazelle for 15 mins and then the ab sculpt… I was SOAKED. The only time I don’t mind sweating. My legs are sore, I’m sure from yesterday, plus the Gazelle. My arms feel like they are caveman arms… and ready to fall out if you just pull on them. I’m sure my chest will start to whine in a little bit, it usually does
Happy to say my energy level is still UP! If I feel like this every day, I should have no problems sticking to my workouts in the morning.
Last night, I wasn’t really hungry for supper, but I ate anyway. Ugh… I probably ate too much, too. Dave came home so we went out. The plate choices don’t leave much for small portions, but I tried to eat smart.
The thing that is giving me the most problem right now, is getting in my water. One of these days, it is all going to work together!!!

…until I go to California!
Ok, proud of myself for getting in my workouts so far this week I’m discovering that I need to rearrange things and make a new workout schedule. I’ve divided my strength workouts into 3 groups. Sun is group 1, Mon is group 2, Tues is group 3, then Wed is group 1 again, etc. I’m also going to do abs every day, doing the ab crunch on the bowflex with group 1 and 3, and doing my Hip Hop Abs absculpt with group 2. AND I’m going to do cardio every day, too: 15 mins on my Gazelle after my strength workout. I believe keeping the groups small and the Gazelle at 15 mins will keep me from getting burned out, and it will give me 6 days of consistent workouts. And then my rest day will truely be a REST DAY!!! And also, working out every day will get me into a groove to get up early and get to bed early!! Now, to get my diet into a groove…
On another note, I’ve cut out my PM blood sugar meds (with my Doctor approval) and my AM fasting blood sugar this morning was 113 - that’s EXCELLENT for me!! And last night, after my workout, I went to Wal-mart with my daughter, and checked my blood pressure - 113/57 , and my pulse was 77. I have NEVER had numbers like that before! Well, since I’ve started monitoring myself, anyway!! LOL! I am VERY happy with those numbers!
Feeling sore today, YAY! And my energy level is high. Hopefully soon I will SEE some good progress, and I can take another picture.
Have a great day!

Or, TWIB (this week in bodybuilding. haha).
July 20 to July 26, 2008
Sunday had planned cardio, but didn’t get in any. Ate ok, not great.
Monday ate better. Got up early and did my first bowflex workout. Took a long time, mostly because I was still experimenting with weight.
Tuesday had to go get my car. Ate pretty bad. Didn’t get in any cardio.
Wednesday was eating pretty well, but had a WTF moment when I got home from work, and ate chocolate and almonds, and then some cookies and milk. Passed out for an hour or so, woke up, called myself some names, and then did my bowflex workout. Was a pretty good workout!
Thursday ate pretty clean, did have a small piece of chocolate. Slept an hour again, had ½ bottle of diet pepsi, then did my cardio workout. My whole body was happy after that!! I couldn’t fall asleep, though, and slept fitfully.
Friday duh made the mistake at the restaurant and forgot to order my fish grilled, but otherwise food was good. Had an AWESOME bowflex workout!
Saturday slept in a little, worked with Cricket, it was HOT. We trotted, I sweated. Got home, drank a bunch of water, then rode my bike through town. Was about 15 min worth, but I didn’t stop pedaling at all. Food good.
Days cardio: 2 out of 3 possible
Days weights: 3 out of 3 possible
Days eating clean: hmmm…. lets call it 3 out of 7 possible
Beginning weight: 161.8
Ending weight: 160.2 Difference: - 1.6
(I will calculate bodyfat % and LBM at a later time)
I did weigh a little less yesterday, and I probably will weigh a little less tomorrow, but I am not home right now and won’t have a scale in the morning. But that’s ok, it’s just the first week, and at least I’m down.
Also had excellent blood sugar numbers at the end of this week!
As far as the bowflex goes - yes, I like it! The first thing I noticed is that it is smooth. I’ve used a few different types of weight machines, and I had a total gym for a long time, and I’ve used the free weights. The bowflex moves smoothly, and quietly. And it’s easier to control so you don’t have any momentum helping you along. I really like how easy it is to change the weight, no collars and plates, and no clanking. No straining or "lifting weights" before you have to lift the actual weight. I’m still working out the kinks on figuring out which weight I should be lifting, but I think I’ve got it on most of them. The only problem I keep having is my over 40 eyes - the rods are black, the caps are black, and the weight numbers on the caps are black! LOL I made a few mistakes because I couldn’t see very well. So I painted the numbers with a metallic silver paint. This should help!! JEESH!
I feel really good, having gotten in 3 workouts, and 2 cardio days. My energy is up - I’m not feeling exhausted, although I haven’t been able to do my workouts (except the first one on Monday) in the morning. We’ll see how next week goes. Tomorrow is going to be a true rest day.
Ok, that’s it for now! Thanks for reading!!

Ok, I’m breaking the silence for a minute. Maybe more. I don’t know. Here’s what’s going on. Starting yesterday, I’m on a new plan. Dave and I got a bowflex.

We have both made a pact with each other, to stick to our workouts and he’s promised to help me eat clean by not tempting me with eating out and pies etc. (he bakes pies. WONDERFUL pies lol). I am going to follow Rachel McLish’s diet in her Perfect Parts book, with a few additions to make the calories 1447. The ratios come out to 45% protein, 40% carbs, and 15% fat. I am going to follow this diet for 2 whole weeks, with no cheating. Then after two weeks, I will evaluate everything, including the workouts, to see where I am. I posted this collage of Rachel in our workout room for motivation:

I also have a picture of me, from July, 1989, on the wall. I was 133 lbs, and had been working on Nautilus machines for about 5 months. I was NOT eating clean, and NOT doing any cardio!! Of course, I was 26 years old and had not had any children yet, either!! I’m shooting for 138 lbs now. I was there between child #2 and #3, so I believe that is realistic and attainable.

I also have a picture of Dave on the wall, just because I like to look at him
And as my final motivation, I am putting a picture of Dave’s ex-wife on the refrigerator, and in my bathroom on the mirror, and any where else I can think of, to help me to EAT CLEAN!!! LOL! I will not put it here, that wouldn’t be very nice, and I won’t say her name, that wouldn’t be nice, either. She is no where near in shape or fit or healthy or anything like that, but it will remind me that I have only so much time until we go to California.
Now, don’t think Dave and her got divorced because she was not in perfect shape. When they got together, she wasn’t in great shape, either. He just said she let herself go, and didnt’ care, but that had nothing to do with their relationship. But Dave gushes on me so much, and makes me feel like a million bucks, I want to stay in shape for him, as much as for me. So having "her" picture around for a little while won’t hurt. I don’t think so, anyway LOL!
I will weigh in on Saturday morning, and let you know how I did for this week.
