A big fat juicy hamburger

Oh man, I’ve been really good on my diet. I was planning a cheat day for Saturday, because Dave is going to make his award winning, please stop entering our contests so someone else can have a chance to win Chili, and I wanted to be able to eat it!! But everyone around me has been having hamburgers - we’ve been REALLY busy at work, stress levels have been high, no time to go out to lunch, so they’ve been bringing it back and eating at their desks. All around me!! The fries I can resist, but hamburgers…

So last night after my AWESOME back and triceps workout, I went to the freezer to pull out what I thought I had in there for supper. OOPS, now I remember, we ate that a few weeks ago… It was already 7 pm, so I said to Dave (we both have a "hamburger gene" - we could eat hamburgers everyday!) "How ’bout burgers for dinner?" Didn’t have to ask him twice. So we had burgers at the Uptown Grill. MMMMMMM….. hamburgers.

The scale was kind to me this morning, and I"m back on track, so hopefully it was an ok cheat, and won’t mess me up!! I hope I can still have chili on Saturday!!! LOL!!

I know, doesn’t sound like a big deal, but when you’ve left your shirt untucked for …  ?  years?  because your gut sticks out farther than your b***s, tucking it in and looking trimmer really does something for your ego!!!!!    Wish I could take a picture… but I will take new ones Saturday!

Monday weigh-in

Ok, what I’ve done is used what I’ve learned from Jenny Craig, Richard Simmons Deal-A-Meal, Tom Venuto’s book Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle, my own experiences, my best bud Alicia, and all of you.  I was maintaining my weight at 1600 calories, but I need to lose, so I dropped it down to 1400 calories a day.  This is how it came down for last week:

   Monday Sept 17 weight 165.8

Monday calories 1474

Tuesday calories 1295, cardio

Wednesday calories 1714

Thursday calories 1474,  weights

Friday calories 1490

Saturday calories 1413,  cardio, weights

Sunday calories 1530, cardio

    Monday Sept 24 weight 160.0

That’s 5.8 lbs!!!  WOO-HOO!!  I am VERY pleased, because my second weight goal is 159.5.  (I broke my whole 34 lbs into 5 lb segments to make it easier to attain). 

I’ve been able to keep my calories pretty close to what I wanted.  I adjusted so I’m getting enough protein, and I’m drinking enough to keep the plumbing (my own and the house!!) flowing!!  I am VERY encouraged!!  Looking forward to tonite’s workout!!

Won’t give it all away before Monday, but had to write a little bit. I’m feeling very good.  I had a few moments where I was a little lightheaded, and I checked my menus and found that I wasn’t eating enough protein, so hopefully I’ve fixed that.  I’m looking forward to my workouts, my body is actual craving my strength training  :)   yeah!  Making myself a treat for (2nd) breakfast this morning:  Dave made cinnamon raisin bread earlier in the week (healthy) so I’m making myself French Toast with it.  MMMM.  Using egg beaters and 1% milk, just a dab of that country crock light for browning, sugar free syrup (just a little) and 1/4 cup of frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries).  Only allowing myself 2 slices (lol) so I don’t overdo it, and I’m adding 2 eggbeaters as scrambled eggs for some more protein.  I’ve been looking forward to this breakfast for 2 days! LOL!!!

I had a funny dream last night - I was dreaming I was going to have some cherry pie.  The whole dang pie was in front of me, with one slice gone.  I started to cut a slice, then said I would only cut a small piece so I wouldn’t mess up my diet and my weight.  I cut the small slice, put it on my plate, then said (who I was talking to I have no clue) I had to go pee.  At that point, I woke up to go pee.  As I was walking to the bathroom, I realized I hadn’t eaten any pie, there wasn’t any pie, and I was still safe!! WHEW!!  that was pretty funny!!!

Progress and Accountability

I’ve noticed so many people post their menus and their workouts, but I feel kinda weird about writing that personal, (plus it seems like "who cares what I’m eating") but I do feel I need to go public on a few things, to help keep me going.

So every monday I’m going to post the previous week’s calories per day, and my starting weight and ending weight.  And if I’ve worked out, what it was without being too specific.

My daily caloric intake for at least a little while, is to be 1400 calories.  I hope to do cardio everyday, but some days when I’m exhausted that won’t happen… and I plan on 4 days a week strength training.

So to go back to Monday, I will post my weight today what it was Monday, and then next week I will do a daily calorie intake for this week… Am I making sense? LOL

Monday I weighed 165.8   I bought a new scale, so I’m just going to start from there.  I will also see if I can measure my bodyfat, that isn’t exactly easy when you don’t have someone to do your shoulder etc., but I will see how it goes!

I’M BACK AND STILL FIRED UP!

Hi!  Back from Vegas!  Not too poor, I only really had to buy food, but I did buy a few gifts.  No gambling!  I was good.

I ate smart when I could, no microwave or fridge in our rooms; they want you to pay $10 for breakfast/lunch in the food court of the hotel.  I did get two meals from Denny’s that were smart choices, and then I had fruit and an omelette another day and yogurt and a blueberry muffin on another day.  Then just a muffin on the last day. 

I did NOT do my cardio DVD, but I walked the **** outta my butt!!  My calves actually were a little sore, which surprised me, for all the stuff I do.  But I’m feeling flabby and now that I’m  home, I’m chompin’ at the bit to get back into my routine!!!!  YEAH!!

I also have a renewed fire to get rid of AT LEAST 10 lbs by Nov 1st.  I have a doctor appt at the end of November, and if I haven’t lost at least that much, there is a very good chance my doctor will put me on a medicine that I very much DO NOT want to be on!!!  I don’t feel like going into specific details right now about that, so just trust me.  Also, with the holidays coming up, I would REALLY like to look much better, possibly AWESOME (LOL) when I go to visit everyone.

Pictures Postponed

Sorry, something weird is going on with me…  I may be having a reaction to something I ate??  But I am not going to be able to post full body progress pictures this weekend!  Maybe next, for sure in two more weeks!  So since I promised some pictures, I will give you this:  my calves/legs from behind, to compare to the other one, and my um, ah, biceps.  I feel really funny about posting those pictures, because my arms are definitely a trouble spot for me, but I am getting a muscle, and then I will have something to compare to later.  Besides, I see pictures posted from all kinds of brave girls on this site, and no one gives them sh*t, so hopefully, you will all be honest and kind at the same time  ;)

I am leaving tomorrow for LAS VEGAS and I sure hope I can come home in decent shape!  So you probably won’t hear from me for a week, don’t think something’s wrong!  I am bringing workout clothes and my cardio kickbox DVD, and I plan on using the fitness center, whatever it has in there (hopefully some free weights!).  I’m not sure how the food situation is going to go, but I will try to eat smart, and drink as much water as possible!  And, no, I won’t be gambling or drinking alcohol, I don’t have the $$ to waste gambling and I just can’t have alcohol for health reasons (other than fitness reasons!).

So, everyone carry on and we’ll all have made progress in a week!!!!  lol!

Hump Day.  Blah day.  Sad wednesday, Dave goes back to work for a week.  HOWEVER I am still on-fire-motivated, and last nite I did a good workout for me.  I’m still pumped to do tonite’s too.

I’ve been working on my TotalGym.  I’ve had it for 9 years, and it’s like my old friend.  I turned my life upside down 3 years ago, and had put it in storage, and last year around this time I went to get it out, and couldn’t find it.  And the lock on my storage garage was open, so I thought it had been stolen.  :(   That’s why I hadn’t been working out on it before.

But lo, and behold, there it was, stuffed in the very back corner of the garage. I’m not sure how it got there, but I hauled it home and cleaned it up and I’ve been back in the groove for a few weeks now.

I know it’s not the same as free weights, and not even quite the same as weight machines, but I like it.  And I can feel and SEE improvement in me already.  I’m looking forward to Saturday morning’s photo shoot.

Even if the pictures dont’ show a whole lot of difference, I’m not going to let it get me down.  BECAUSE:  a) I had dropped off there for a little bit, and ate poorly   b) I just plain FEEL better   c) my size 12 jeans that I just got into comfortably in May are now feeling not tight ANYwhere on me at all!   d) my arms are starting to feel like there are actually muscles in there  and e) I can SEE a difference in my abs.  Or whatever they are called in this stage lol.   As long as I can see and feel improvement, I am happy.

My scale broke ages ago, so I have no clue what I am weighing, but I guess that doesn’t matter really anyway.  I’ll just let my clothes be my gauge.

So, I’ve broken my workouts into 4 days, 2 body groups.  M and W are the same, and T and TH are the same.  And I’m still Gazelle-ing every morning.  And I’ve decided once a month (first time will be end of Sept) to go ahead and see how heavy I can go on:  squats, bench press, military press and deadlift with the free weights, that way I can see how my strength is improving.  It’s hard to tell exactly what I’m "lifting" on the Total Gym.  I go by how hard it is to move me on the glideboard.

Little Victories

Focus on the positive things - I am an emotional eater, I know that.  Sometimes its hard even though I know that, to NOT eat when I am upset.  It’s a 50/50 battle. 

But today, I won.  WHEW. So far, anyway.  Had to get something off my chest, started a fight.  I didn’t expect it to be a fight, but I should have known better.   Argh.

I get to work, and my best pal Randy who is also on here trying to get fit, very innocently reminded me of "something in the fridge."  Well that something is a 3lb bag of peanut M&Ms that a sales rep brought by last week. 

As bad as I felt emotionally, the desire to not mess up my hard work won out!!  I DID NOT have any M&Ms! I stuck to my 10:30 meal of cottage cheese and fresh fruit.

I have to post these little things, because next time this obstacle comes up, I can remember how good I feel right this minute.  And then, my sweetie came in to the office, and made up with me.  The temptation to eat the M&Ms is still there, even though the situation has been taken care of, but I still ate my cottage cheese and fruit.

And now I feel much better.   Whew.
