haven’t posted for a while

i guess finals and flying back home have taken me away from updating this blog.  the weights have been pretty good, making good progress.  seemed to have cut a little bit of fat and have a little bit more definition in my abs, they still aren’t good though.  gonna try to take a break from the weights for about 10 days or so, only gonna do jiu jitsu and wrestling.  its hard for me to stay away from the iron though.  yesterday did some jiu jitsu.  worked the muscles in a way that i hadn’t worked them for a long time.  had to do some rounds of wrestling with some guys who were going for their blue belts and also had to do some straight jiu jitsu rounds with them as well.  that’s all for now, beach on memorial day.

deadlift day

my ab seems to have healed up pretty good so i’m back to full strength.  did some smith pressing with incline, military and cg bench all on the smith machine.  upped the weight on the incline, so the reps aren’t there yet.  pretty much expected it, i don’t normally up the weight on the bb smith presses and then have impressive rep numbers.  did some good weight on front pulldowns.  deads were the best yesterday.  the grip felt real good.  pulled 315 x 10 for my working set and also did a 285 x 12 as a "widowmaker".  more stoked about how good the grip felt more than anything else.  the grip has always been one of my weakest points and is often a limiting factor on whether or not i can go that extra rep.  pretty sore as i type it right now.  leg pressing is on tuesday, finals on wednesday and thursday.

pretty good weights yesterday.  beat all the numbers.  working hard on really emphasizing the negative and a slower rep speed so that i can hit the muscles a little more effectively.  tweaked my middle left ab yesterday during one arm rows for back.  don’t know how it happened, didn’t do anything a lot different than the other times and only beat my last effort by a rep.  trying to heal up.  that’s all for now.  hope the ab is good by friday for some front squats and SLDL, among others.

pretty hard workout today.  flew through the bicep and the forearm workout today.  did some ez bar curls, seated hammer curls to work the arms.  then did some seated calf raises, seated leg curls and squats for the legs.  calf raises were painful.  had a 12 second bottom on them with a 2 second lowering phase.  did 11 pretty damn painful reps.  squats were pretty good.  put down 335 for 8, wanted to quit after about 5, somehow managed to put out 3 extra.  did a widowmaker of 250 for 20.  that was hard, pretty out of breath for over a minute after that.  overall, happy with the workout, now its time to eat clean and recover.

the upper body workout

didn’t feel my best throughout the workout, but the weights were pretty good.  did some flat db, db press, weighted dips, cg pulldowns and some rack deads.  did some good weights.  shoulder was tripping out for a little bit during the flat db and shoulder db press.  pretty good weights and reps though.  rack deads were pretty good, did 345 x 6.  could have done more but the grip wasn’t very good and couldn’t hold the weight for the 7th rep.  did a "widowmaker type" for some rack deads and pulled 275 x 17.  pretty good and got a real nice pum pout of the workout.
