lifting

good lifting day today.  took about a 45 min nap before, took animal pump and then went to the gym.  good workout.  85 x 12 for flat dumbbell press, 65 x 15 for dumbbell shoulder press, good numbers on tricep and close grip pulldowns.  also did 260 x 20 on rack deads.  overall a really nice pump.  finished off the workout with 5 min of cardio on a stationary bike.  felt good to get the blood moving after the workout.  arms and tris still feeling pretty pumped up after the workout.

in terms of lifting there was nothing today.  20 min of cardio on the spliptical on fat burning mode.  pretty good, could feel a little burn in the hamstrings.  felt as though i burned through some fat, definitely feel and look leaner.  got some good meals in as wlel.  added some eggs into the bulking diet.  will be taking a real gains gainer shake in about an hour or so.  will probably have to modify my plans for the bulk.  i think i might try to get up to about 195 or so by about december and then start cutting down 5-10 lbs before i go back to hawaii for christmas.  want to come in at a pretty solid, in shape 185.  i think this should help with the grappling.

no working out for me today or tomorrow.  have to study tonight and i normally don’t work out on monday’s to begin with.  exam tomorrow which is why there is lifting at that time either.  professor stuck it right during the time when i like to lift.  o well, wednesday and thursday lifting days.  should be fun.  in the meantime i’ll try to get some cardio in tomorrow and get back on track on wed.

doggcrap workout for the day

really tired from last night, went to bed late because of halloween festivities.  worth it at the time, but not as i was working out.  really had to will myself to get through the sets and to beat my previous lifting numbers.  did some alternating hammer and dumbbell curls, along with standing calf raises, hamstrings and hack squats.  good numbers on all of them.  seated leg curl machine was BROKEN today, i don’t see how a gym can have machines for everything, including about 4 leg press machines and only have 1 machine for hamstrings and that’s the machine that breaks the most.  don’t understand, very confused about the thought process of who ever created the gym set up.

hit the gym again after some time away.  well worth it since all the lifts went up.  decided to go with slightly heavier weights and lower reps.  did some incline bench, military press, close grip bench, pulldowns and deadlift.  everything was done doggcrapp style with the rest pausing except for deadlift.  decided to max out on that today just to see where i am.  last time i maxed on this was sometime in the middle of summer.  the maxing was at the end of the workout, so it may have been a few lbs lighter than it should be.  all the weights i moved were good.  got 340 up on deadlift.  could have gone more, but since i was trying to find the max i kind of burned myself out by underestimating a few times.  i’ll see where the dead is at sometime again near christmas.  want to be able to pull 400 at that time.  my gf, who also is my training partner was trying to see, for fun how much she can dead and ended up repping 155 for 4 or so.  not too shabby.

the time of no lifting

really needed a few days off.  last lifting day was sunday for me.  my body was wearing down after the workouts plus the added pressure/stress of midterms and papers that were due.  during the break so far i seemed to have hardened up and loss some water weight while the weight went up from about 181 to 184.  seems to be a pretty good gain, hope it helps the numbers go up when i hit the weights again.  also changed up some of the exercises in the workout routine.  trying to hit the upper chest a little more to get greater fullness.  also added sumo deadlifts as my third hamstring exercise.  for some reason my gym doesn’t have a lying leg curl, only a seated leg curl.  for a while i was only going with seated leg curls and sldls.  they were effective, but i wanted to shock the muscles with a third exercise.  i’m out for now, the first day back for me is tomorrow.  pretty excited about that.

didn’t feel super good when i entered the gym today.  was a little bit tired to begin with.  took some mhp anadrox to get me going for the workout.  did biceps, forearms, seated calf raises, seated hamstring curls and leg presses.  felt a little weak today overall.  the weights that i moved didn’t reflect it though.  will be taking a few days off.  gonna skip my tues and wed workouts.  next workout will be on friday, oct 26.  changing some exercises as well.  machine day is going to be a little different, no more machine chest press, replaced by some incline dumbbell presses.  also throwing in some ez bar reverse curls to work forearms.  decided that only doing variations of hammer curls isn’t gonna do it too well.  also switching in some sumo deadlifts for some of the seated leg curls to work the hamstrings a little more.  hope this will do well.

weighed in at 182.5 today.  looking pretty lean, not too much water retention.  decided to go off a weight gainer i’ve been using for about a week and a half today.  the ids smart gainer is just not working for me, i cannot handle the stomach probs associated with it, makes me feel pretty sick after i drink it.  the taste on it also isn’t the best.  going back to using some dymatize mega meal as well as some universal real gains.  have been putting those in the blender along with some milk and some ice and see what happens.  sometimes put ice cream in there as well.  added some whole milk into the regime to see how that works with the lean mass gains.  post workout meal today was some whiting (found it really cheap at the store, 2.99 for quite a few fillets) as well as some tilapia.  also had some yukon golden potatoes that i boiled and then cooked up with some olive oil and some random spices like garlic powder and lemon pepper.  overall pretty good.  will be making some rice today as well.  haven’t done this for a while because it takes kind of long to make and is pretty messy.

machine day

not too big today with the free weights, mainly machines.  good to get the weights pretty high on some of the compound exercises since i don’t have to worry about things falling on my head.  machine chest press went well.  moved the weight up 10 lbs and still got over 20 reps on a rest pause set.  improved on machine shoulder press a little bit as well.  tricep rope pushdowns were good.  amazing pump in the arms after these three exercises.  also got some good weight on behind the neck pulldowns.  best exercise of the day was dumbbell bent over rows.  90 lbs for 24 reps.  solid exercise.  got the back to really get pumped out.  tomorrow is a day off, football game to watch.  saturday will be biceps, forearms, calves, hams, quads, in that order.

leg day with a sprinkling of bis

good weight for biceps today.  the arms didn’t feel too strong after the blasting that they took yesterday.  got 100 on the ez curl bar for 21 reps, and got 45 for 17 on alternating seated hammer curls.  good weight and the biceps felt jacked after that one.  did some calf raises to get the legs going and to get a good stretch/burn in the calves and then did some stiff leg deads, 175 x 21.  finished off with 315 for 5 on squats.  tried to push it a little deeper this time to get a better stretch in the quads and the hams and to really force blood into the legs.  finished the legs off with 225 x 20 on squats.  amazing burn, wanted to fall down after i was done with them.  got the legs super pumped up though so it was definitely worth it.  tomorrow is a day off.  might go for a run if it doesn’t rain/isn’t cold and windy as hell.  the bulking is going pretty good, might put a little cardio into the system to keep the gut from expanding massively.  not too much though, maybe like 10-15 min at random throughout the week.
