the weekly rundown

two days of doggcrap training have been pretty brutal on the body.  shoulders are still sore from tuesday and i’m feeling the legs today after yesterdays workout.  hit basically the entire body.  really nice pump.  getting some weights moving that i never thought i would be able to get.  got 305 for 8 and 205 for 20 on squats yesterday.  the legs got really pumped up from that.  today is a day off, completely.  no cardio.  tomorrow i’ll hit the upper body with doggcrapp and then sunday is lower body.

second day of doggcrapp training for me.  having to get used to the overall soreness that i feel when i wake up in the morning as opposed to only a few targeted muscles being sore.  the stretching seems to be helping this though.  i’m just not used to having my legs and my biceps sore at the same time, kind of weird.  yesterday’s work out was good.  weights i moved were a lot better than i thought they would be.  45 x 20 rp for dumbbell curls, 50 x 15 on hammer curls all rest pausing.  seated leg curls was 150 (on the machine, don’t know what it really is) for 15 rest pausing.  did some calf raises as well.  295 for 8 on squats followed by a 185 x 20 widowmaker.  really nice pump in the legs.  today is probably a day of rest to catch up on some stuff like homework.  haha.  not good.

beginning of doggcrapp training

started a new workout plan today.  did some incline bench, military presses, close grip bench, deadlifts and pulldowns, all done doggcrapp style.  really solid workout, quite tiring and intense.  pump was good.  hope this will be helping me put on some mass in a little bit quicker style than i have been over the past few months.

sumo squats and compounding the legs

decided to run some sumo squats today.  never did them before and wanted to see how they worked out.  thought it was pretty solid.  good pump in the legs, could feel the legs getting hit from a different angle, always a good thing.  did some lunges, sldls, sumo deads and leg press.  good workout, good weight.  was really focusing on getting a full stretch and taking all the exercises deep.  think the hams and glutes will be sore tomorrow.  i won’t be lifting tomorrow, but have some jiu jitsu.  sore legs might make it hard to keep people in guard, i don’t really know.  o well.  friday starts my next cycle.  exciting stuff.

shoulders bis and tris

almost the end of this weeks cycle.  body is a little tired and worn down.  haven’t been getting as much rest as i’m accustomed to.  worked shoulders today with some military presses, laterals, raises and shrugs.  overall a good solid workout.  got some suprisingly nice amount of reps up with military press.  guess the shoulders are getting stronger after all.  they’ve always been one of my weaker points.  bis and tris were mainly just to get some blood pumping into the region.  did some hammer curls and alternating curls along with pushdowns and overhead extensions.  nothing real fancy, but it got the job done.  tomorrow is legs, next day is take a break time but i am planning to go to some jiu jitsu class (2 hrs, don’t know what we’ll do for all that time)

shifting the back workout

didn’t have too much time to workout today, so i tried to maximize the time i had in the gym.  did back today.  started off differently with some low pulley seated rows, pulldowns, one arm rows, smith machine rows and some hyper extensions.  was able to get some really nice weight up.  didn’t think that i would be able to go as heavy as i did since i was going with a little less rest between sets than usual.  pump in the back is nice.  i’m hoping that taking the week off from deadlifting will help up the deadlifting weight next time i decide to pull.  tomorrow is shoulders.

chest bis and tris

changed up the chest routine today.  i’ve been working with barbells for a while so i decided that from here on out i would go with the dumbbells.  did the same type of exercises though, incline, flat and cable crosses.  also did the pec fly stretch with the dumbbells.  hold the heavy weight at the bottom of the movement for about 45sec to a min.  pretty solid pump out of it. also did incline curls and some ropes for triceps.  really solid pump out of the workout.  tomorrow is a day off, back day on tues.

bis and tris

woke up today with the hamstrings and quads killing me.  guess that means i did a good job with the leg workout yesterday.  did some bis and tris today.  nothing fancy in the workout, straight barbell curls, hammer curls, incline and preacher curls.  tris were rope pushdowns, overhead extensions, close grip benching and pushdowns.  pump was really solid in the arms.  tomorrow will be a little bit of legs.

leg day

changed up the leg routine today.  will not be able to workout on saturday (start of week 2 of my split for me) so i had to make some adjustments.  decided to hit the hamstrings and glutes a little harder than usual today.  did some squats, some with the weight under the ball of the foot and some with the weight under the heel.  really isolated the legs and worked them well.  also did 3 sets of lunges along with 4 sets of sldls and sumo deadlifts.  good weight on all the lifts.  the hams are kicking right now.  didn’t really do any true isolation exercises like extensions or curls but the legs feel good and pumped up all over.  tomorrow is bis and tris.

shoulders

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

took yesterday off.  had class all day anyway and i felt as though i needed a day off anyway.  did some shoulders today.  upright rows, dumbbell presses, side and front raises along with some machine rear delts.  went for a little bit more in terms of volume.  the weight was down a little bit to do this.  got a really nice pump out of the workout.  i’m trying to see what strategy works the shoulders the best since they seem a little bit undersized compared to the rest of the arms.  tomorrow will be legs.
