Weekly Weigh In - 09/27/09

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

My weekly weigh in was a day late and in the evening this weekend because I was out enjoying northern Michigan from Thursday through late this evening (Sunday).

Anyway, pleasant surprise, even though I weighed myself in the evening my bodyweight was only 236.8 and my bodyfat was (wait for it) only 18.4%! Wow, what a difference from the mid twenty percentages I’m used to on Saturday mornings. Of course, the important part of the bodyfat percentage is to keep it moving down. I’m presuming that if I weighed myself on Saturday morning I would have been 2 - 4 lbs lighter than this evening. But, 236.8 is actually pretty low for me.

Gee, I guess I should have tried serious "bulking" earlier. Clearly the workout and diet I’m following now is working better than any of my weight loss techniques. I’m guessing that I was taking in too few calories which actually slowed my metabolism and there fore the weight hung on. By eating more, my metabolism is "revved" back up and the weight is coming off.

Stay tuned - more to follow I’m sure!

Weekly Weigh In - 09/20/09

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I day late on my weigh in - sort of. I did weigh in yesterday but unfortunately, my Crohn’s was acting up so badly that I didn’t even have the energy to make a blog entry. Suffered through the day, went to bed at 10:00 (8:30 actually if you count when I feel asleep in front of the tv) and didn’t wake up until 9:30 this morning. Weird dreams through the night - some of which involved food, shopping for food and a kid who kept transforming himself into a dog and wouldn’t change back - but when I woke I felt much better. So after the morning absolutions I took some medicine and decided to weight myself again for the heck of it just to see what a full day with virtually no eating or drinking did.

The results - I’m down to 231 pounds, lowest weight in a long time and a difference of about four pounds from the previous morning. Bodyfat soared to 29%. Both of these readings I’m sure are due almost entirely to dehydration. I’ll be weighing in again tonight just out of curiousity to see what happens after a day of hydration and eating.

The body - just full of amazing little tricks isn’t it?

Weekly Weigh In - 09/12/09

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Another slight drop in weight - wouldn’t you know it? When I actually buckle down to gain I start to lose! Bodyfat is still a concern, naturally, but I know I’m dehydrated this morning again. Late night at a college football game last night (we won!) and another big game this afternoon. Which will be a long afternoon in the sun so I"ll have to fight dehydration further today with plenty of water.

Overall, feeling good and strong, though I’m actually feeling "smaller" for some reason. It’s hard to describe, but usually when I"m working out hard I feel bigger and more pumped even during the day - but not this time. Not enough rest maybe? I’ll keep tweaking…

Weekly Weigh In - 09/05/09 *UPDATED*

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Yeah, I missed last week for various reasons (work being the main one) but I weighed in again this week. Two surprises - weight was down significanty and bodyfat was up significantly. I actually attribute both of these to my being dehydrated this morning more than usual. Why do I think I was dehydrated? I slept more than  10 and half hours last night - my busy weeks at work finally caught up to me - and I’ve been feeling "odd" the past couple days with internal chills and a low grade fever - I’m attributing this to Crohn’s and or exhaustion as I’m feeling way better this morning and if it was the flu or a cold I wouldn’t be feeling better already.

Now normally the weight loss would be a good thing, but wouldn’t you know it? I’m trying to bulk for the role of Lennie which I mentioned in earlier blogs. Who knew the secret of weight loss was simply to try and gain weight (haha)? Though I’m taller and bigger than all but one person in the cast (the other man who could have been Lennie) I’m focusing on my back and shoulders to be as wide as possible. I’ve only got two months to pack on some mass - but as always I don’t won’t want to get fat (fatter?).

You all know how it is!

Have a great weekend all and a happy Labor Day to those who labor!

UPDATE: the bodyfat measurement was bugging me enough that I re-weighed myself tonight and things were more in line. Weight was up about 3 lbs from the morning to 238 but my bf% was back to the 22-23% range (22.8). Dehydration sure changes the readings!
