Looking Forward to the New Year!

Well, another year down and another one about to start. It may seem cliche, but I am looking forward to this coming year and yet another "fresh start." The holidays so far haven’t been too good for a variety of personal reasons, so after hosting a small gathering this evening to ring in the New Year I’m planning on getting back into the gym on January 1 and putting things back on track.

Okay - not really the gym as it will be closed, but I’ll be making use of the equipment that I have in my home which will be plenty for my scheduled workout.

Happy New Year everyone! 

 

 

Bummer…

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Well, just as I felt things were on track for me my stomach started getting upset late this afternoon - and I left my medication for Crohn’s at home. I came home from work and decided I better just take my medicine and rest. Hopefully, it’s not the first symptoms from a bug that’s been going around…

On the plus side, I’ve been feeling very motivated lately. Illness aside, I don’t think that I will be letting the holidays get in the way of my long term goals this year!

Great Workout

Not much to report today, really, but I had a good workout tonight and just thought it was worth mentioning. I was able to increase weights in all my lifts, the students are on break so the Rec Center I workout at wasn’t too crowded (still a wait for the incline bench though), and I actually completed all the sets without feeling completely worn out! I guess the workout is actually, well, working!

More Cardio?

Okay, I’ve been a little frustrated the last two weeks - my weight keeps dipping down and then going back up without any significant change to my diet. So, I’ve decided I better up the cardio (what else is new, right?).

Also, I’ve started thinking about some goals for the new year - I never did get my arms up to 18" (flexed) like I’ve always wanted - an odd goal in many ways, and I’m not sure why 18" seems like a magic number to me, of course at one time 16" seemed big too…oh well - but I think for my continued good health getting back down to 220 and a couple inches off my waist might be a better goal. Plus, my arms will look bigger if they are more defined anyway.

Anyone else want to offer their opinions of good goals for the New Year? What are yours?
