BodyBuilding, Cardio, and Nutrition

I am doing two days one day off with 60 minutes of cardio a day and 60 minutes of lifting a day. The nutrition part is where I fall off at. Can someone help?? On a CHEAP budget by the way!!

I’ve found that the cheapest way to eat healthy is to buy natural ingredients - no processed foods. Make things from scratch, and have simple meals. Chicken breast, potato or sweet potato (very cheap) with plain non-fat yogurt instead of butter and salad with homemade dressing. I make a dressing with flax oil (4 oz), raw apple cider vinegar (3 oz) and lemon juice (3 oz). Eggs with lots of vegetables mixed in is good, too. You can add a piece of whole wheat toast if you need some carbs, but watch the butter. Sometimes I’ll dip my bread in a mix of salsa and plain yogurt instead of butter - yum! I hope this helps, it’s really helped me. I just need to stick with it better!
    Have a great day!

First, are you doing the cardio for heart health or for fat loss? If the latter, try doing the treadmill at the highest incline going 2.5-3.0mph. You’ll keep your heart rate more in a fat burning rate rather than cause muscle loss going all out in higher heart rate ranges.

As for nutrition, as long as you don’t mind eating the same thing a lot its easiest to find recipes you can make large amounts of and portion it out for the next few days, or even a whole week if it’ll keep. Gladware is great for this. Add in a food scale (a digital one for more consistent accuracy) and you can easily figure out what you’re eating and feel more confident knowing you’re not over-doing it. A personal favorite is this: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/sweet_potato_casserole.html (just try extra virgin olive oil instead and go easy on the topping. I think its better served cold).

Also, Ms. Dash (no salt) or Lowry’s (salted, but a bit less than most others) are great to lightly brush on your meats and let them sit in the fridge for 24 hours. Chicken breasts and lean top sirloin cuts are what my wife and I use most.
