Tonight’s workout

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

After running my PRT this morning and feeling like a bag of ass all morning and doing some mentally draining work I needed a pick me up but nothing was working. So on my lunch break I went to the barber shop on base to get my ears lowered. Just so everyone knows that when you get your haircut over here the Japanese barbers give you like a few minute neck and back massage. Usually they are just a quick rub down and your out cause theres other ppl waiting but today there was no buddy waiting so the lady gave me a real good massage. During the haircut I almost feel asleep but as soon as the massage was done it was like someone put new batteries in me and I felt GREAT! So the rest of the afternoon I was recharged and just ready to get off work and go workout my back. And it was a wonderful workout. My back is feeling great now and I know I’m gonna be soooo sore tomorrow and Saturday. The biggest accomplishment for me was Deadlifting 385lbs x4 reps. I feel so proud, I’m slowly getting to where I want to be with my back strength. I’m so addicted to lifting and pushing my body to its limits. I love it!

Ran my PRT this morning!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

So yeah I wanted one more day of rest before I ran my PRT but I was forced to run it this morning. I wasn’t to happy about it just cause it was very windy so the last 3/4 mile I had a strong head wind, and it was extremely humid and I don’t breath well when its like that cause it had just finished pouring rain(it was dry all week of course) and my abs were still sore from my workout two days prior. I surprised myself with my situps getting 120 in 2 mins. My pushups I thought I could have done more but my wrist was killing me, 95 in 2 mins. So then on I started my 1 1/2 mile run, I felt good hitting the half way point at 4:45 minutes. But that head wind seemed to just put me down but I saw the one person that was still beating me so I just pushed through but not feeling my best can’t explain why. I crossed the finish-line at 10:30. Not the sub 10 min I was hoping for but I was happy about beating out everyone and by a good margin too. My goal for the spring PRT is to run it in under 9:30. I’m feeling pretty good today even though my work is putting me to sleep, so afterwards I’ll down my NO-Explode and hit the gym for a heavy back workout. I’m glad the PRT is over with so I can pick up my training where I left off.

PRT!

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

So after tomorrow I’ll be really cutting back on my workouts for at least 3 days due to the Navy PRT(Physical Readiness Test) that I have to run next Friday. I don’t want to be still in a recovery phase come test time let alone be sore and can’t do well. I’ll still continue light workouts and cardio to keep me from getting out of shape, but It’s kinda depressing cause the last couple weeks I felt like I was on a real roll and seeing some great results. Oh well, I just want to max out everything… push-ups, and sit-ups, and get the lowest time possible in my 1 1/2 mile run. My only problem is my wrist. i shattered my wrist several years ago and lots of push-ups causes really bad pain. I’m still waiting to have surgery but the military keeps putting it off for me, thanks! But the improvements I’ve made in my overall fitness since last March are so significant that I think I can push past the pain and still reach my goals for this test next week. Wish me good luck, not like its that hard or anything anyway!
