Bringing back the H.I.T. (Brolic bodybuilders, please take note!)

dnsigma

So, over the past few weeks I have gotten back on the H.I.T. program. Now, my routines include cardio before every workout. THat is then followed by some heavy weight lifiting at low reps (10 -12). Addtionally, I have finally been able to buy me some protein this week. So…I’m good. My weight has jumped some up to 212.

In other news,

Let me talk about how jealous I am. First, about 2 or 3 years ago. I was in the gym and there was this huge giuy, like almost Ronnie Coleman size, who would do like 5 at the most of anyhting in the gym. He had on this tanktop and some jeans in the gym!!!! Yes I did say jeans. Anyhow, this guy was absolutely ripped. So, I asked dude what kind of training are you doing and how long have you been doing it? He replied for years and I just kinda do a little here and a little there! I’m like okay…thanks!!!

This morning, I see another huge guy who comes in the gym, I mean not like Ronnie Coleman or nothing but he was pretty brolic. Again, he only did like a few curl with some 60lb dumbells, a few sit ups and he was out. Am I crazy or does this less means more really true? Help me out folks

He he, the question I think you need to ask is how old are these guys and how long have they been training and when’d they switch to the less is more philosophy. And get their whole routine.

I know when I first started at my whopping weight of 135, I was training 5 days a week, doing maybe 6-8 exercises, for 3 -4 sets each. I didn’t really grow worth anything until after reducing it down to 3 days a week, 3 exercises, 3-4 sets each. It was amazing to me at first but over the years, I find it just doesn’t offer enough stimulation for me any more.

Oh, when I first read about HIT it was even weirder. 1-2 days a week, full-body, 1-2 sets per exercise, 1 exercise per bodypart? Blew me wild but I didn’t really see any results as fast as before on any other routine, so I stopped. After more research, I remember reading that it works for those with YEARS of training experience the old crazy way. I haven’t put this into practice yet as I don’t have YEARS of training experience but I plan to, one day.

So don’t be jealous. I personally think you’re not getting the whole story from those guys. Look at it as something to try when you’re tired of your current routine.

He he, I’m still mad you call your rep range of 10-12 low. Man, in my world thats between moderate and high. He he, congratulations on getting up to 212 though.

I have to agree are you getting the whole story from those guys? I think it is more like trial and error. I noticed I started making really good progress in my smaller muscles when I reduced sets and reps but in the token I didn’t start making good progress in my larger muscles till I uped the volume.

Whenever someone asks me how much I workout, I always reply with a "no big deal" attitude and say, "I just do a little bit every now and then", Just to make em think it comes easy to me. LOL
