Can’t let weightlifting get the best of me!

dnsigma

(5:15AM) I made my way over to the gym…determined to get in decent workouts before the holiday break. So, today was a chest day. Earlier, some may have saw that I was a little upset that I didn’t have a workout partner; who I think would help me a lot. Well today, I once again experienced my frustration of working out by myself. So here’s how it went…I was doing the incline bench press with I think about 215. Well, I did a few reps and knew that I could possibly do some more but then I was thinking "Man this is getting difficult and what if this bar falls on me with all of this weight on it? I’m a dead man!" So then I put the bar back up on the rack. Once again, upset because I know I could have done more with some reassurance that someone else would be able to catch the bar if I did fail. What do I do…what do I do…and yup you guessed the last question…what do I do? There must be help for the man….

That’s all folks! Happy lifting.

Yea I was in the same boat as you are now. I used to work out alone because I couldnt find anyone dedicated to going religiously. Now its a little better as on chest and back day I have a workout partner but the other training days I go alone because he cant make it. Maybe if your alone do more smith machine exercises where you can control the weight better and safer. Good luck bro

Yea…that would be good….if our lame gym will ever fix the smith machine.

actually you can still do free weight presses. what i would do is just use the rack (if i’m correct there are two racks for the bar, one higher than the other) and postion the bar on the upper rack. Do your set, and when you reach failure, simply rack it on the lower rack. Just make sure you put the seat low enough for you to reach the bar on the upper rack, but also so when you rack it on the lower one it doesn’t hit you in the head.
