Hey bodyspace member are you reporting the correct squatting numbers?
So, my name may be Boo boo the fool when it comes to bodybuilding things online. If anyone is to take a look at my blog, you will see a significant decrease in my squatting weight. Why? Because I started doing real squats!!!!
I have seen that there are some profiles on-line where people enter these very high numbers for the squatting stats and are proportionally very small in other areas! Something sounds a little fishy…..
Today, I was reading a thread http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=5129863 , where a lot of people say that they don’t squat or are afraid to….hmmmmm….
Then I wonder how could someone have legs like this guy (Beware he’s just a little preening) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63YW8QNOnK4 get legs by doing squats where you only go down about 3 inches and come back up??!?!??!!?
Hmm…. something else to perplex the mind. Question to members? Do you squat? Is it a full squat? Half a squat? Part of squat? Why do you do that type? If you do it at all? I am geniunely interested, so all comments will help.

I do full and box squats to parallel, nowadays. A long time ago I used to do half squats, quarter squats, and smith machine squats. Sorry, no hack squats. I did this because for about a year I was a pansy (insert expletive) and once I feel tension near my knees, that was the end of the rep. This came from bad memories at 14 of never squatting that much in high school on a box. I used to get big weight though. Especially on a smith machine and quarter squat.
Surprisingly all of the size I ever got on my quads came from those pansy types or squats. I can’t figure out why but I guess the lunges and leg presses I did back then made up for the squats or were newbie gains. Nowadays, after the sets of 12-20, I’m just too wiped to do lunges. Its a miracle I can do deadlifts and leg presses. Thats a different story though.
Now that I do full and have been for the past 3+ years, the rest of my lower body has been playing catch-up with my quads but the tape measure hasn’t really seemed to move much around the thighs. Who knows? With the body fat decreases, I could be gaining muscle, losing fat and not even realizing it but thats another story in itself.
I will say this though. Although you’re using a lot less weight with full squats then with half/quarters, they’re actually better just because the full ROM keeps everything working the way its naturally supposed to. You’re not going to see me report my squat numbers though. Too embarassing. You’d really have to catch me on the right day.
I really have a whole blog posting on fake squats. Hell, i think most of the numbers on here are "Good Squats" which is a combination of a quarter squat and a good morning. I see people in my gym that "Good Squat" 500+ lbs on a regular basis. I know thats bad for the lumbar but thats how his trainer does it and tells him to do it. I would tell them better but well, ha ha …
this comment is getting too long. Hope it helps explain a bit.

Mate, full squats (arse to the grass) are the way to go. Full squats also bring on more emphasis on your lower back lumbar muscles and abs. Half squats doesn’t bring much of those muscles into play. Keep on squatting on!
