Question for those who have competed….

dnsigma

Yesterday I had the opportunity to hit the gym for an afternoon workout. It was one of the days the I love to hate….LEGS!!!!!! So, after coming from the gym I thought about some of the people on bodyspace asking if I ever thought about competiting. The answer just might be changing next year. Usually, I would say no…for several reasons 1) Don’t really think I have enought confidence to perform such a show, 2) It’s not really in my character to do something like this, 3) I have absolutely no clue about show techniques, requirements and many other things.

After perusing the net today, I saw several classes like Likeweight, middleweight, heavyweight, bantamweight and masters. So, my question is looking at my stats what category would I fit into? Thanks for the input and continue to have good workouts.

yo wut up? i haven’t actually competed yet, but you know im preppin for one right now. quickest answer to your question though is it really depends on a few things. more than you might think. Primarily it depends on your current bodyfat level and your lean body weight. Then it depends on your diet, how much fat you lose, and how much, if any, muscle you lose in the process. I’m now learning that you should expect to lose more than you plan to unfortunately. Another thing people don’t really focus on is the look you want on stage. Some people feel that they need to come in as ripped as possible while others feel that they may have to sacrifice some cuts for more mass. It really depends on the perfect balance between mass and conditioning.

Your pretty lean now I think you could cut down to a middleweight and do well. (Get a little more ripped without losing too much size) If you want to try comp. go for it! Hell you only live once and it is not nearly as scary as it is in your mind.
