Oh boy…!
Saturday, January 5th, 2008Kk, well I’ve gone and done it. I invested yet more money into my health program. Today I purchased GNC’s whey ISO burst with raspberry flavour, has about 40g of protein / serving. The woman at the store told me that you should consume 1g of protein per day for every pound you weigh; I’m gonna start with two servings a day because I haven’t yet calculated what my monthly income will allow. I hate it when it comes down between increased health bonuses and money, because until you’re richer than I am, money usually wins the contest; but hopefully it doesn’t have to come to that. I also purchased some liquid seed extracts for omega 3 and omega 6, since I have been going a very long time with a deficiency in those categories.
Well, I got home after my workout today (6th day in a row! w00t) and had a go at my first protein mix in forever. 250ml of 1% milk (I know, it’s not skim, but I’m keeping it anyway), 2 scoops of raspberry flavoured whey ISO burst, half a banana and 2 tbs of the liquid seed juice. Man was it GOOD! I have never had such a de-lish protein mix before in my life. Now I’m thinking I’m gonna look forward to my protein boost every day just for the taste. I’ve also got fresh raspberries (as fresh as store bought can be, anyway) and and bananas and apples. So I’m stocked up on produce, just need to get my eating habits up, as in start eating more than 1 to 2 times a day. I’m thinking a grazing strategy could also work; eat a little here, drink a little there; that way my stomach’s always digesting something, even if it’s a couple of carrots or a bit o’ pottage.
I’m also proud to report that I have completed a full week of exercise. Six days of strength training and three days of cardio. Today was a leg day, which was pretty killer, but they seem to be acclimatizing well. I haven’t gained anything this week, but I also haven'’t lost anything. There were some days where I was actually gaining weight, but it was probably just the high end of my daily flop. Day to day I flip from 219 to 223. Hopefully the weight loss will kick in this coming week as my muscles begin to start doing what muscles do. I’ve already noticed a slight firming all over, most noticeably in my chest and upper arms. My stomach actually feels more jiggly, though. I’m hoping it’s because my abs underneath are beginning the resist the seductive urge to merge with the fat, thus making for a soft upper layer that will (hopefully) soon give way to a tough layer of muscle. Whether I get a six-pack or not isn’t much of an issue so long as my waist begins to get smaller than my shoulders.
Okay, well that seems to be a pretty good ramble/update. I’m going for updating this every week, but if something comes up that I can’t help but share than expect more frequent updates as well.
