Dexter Jackson Classic
Friday, August 8th, 2008Well it’s all over. The Dexter Jackson Classic was a great experience. It was a pleasure meeting all the pro’s including Dexter Jackson (of course), Chris Cormier, Gustavo Badell, Troy Alves, Victor Martinez, Dennis James, Silvio Samuel and one of the greatest and my early inspiration, Flex Wheeler. It is also a sight to watch Melvin Anthony perform in person.
The resort hotel was great and the venue at the Lazzara Performance Hall at UNF was top notch. I didn’t even have to drive because they had a shuttle running to and from.
The competition went good. I didn’t know that the pre-judging was on Friday evening. I thought it was going to be on Saturday as usual. I wasn’t ready for the Friday Judging and had to go back to the hotel and get my stuff (posing trunks uncluded). Needless to say I wasn’t prepared mentally and didn’t hit a few of my poses as good as I should’ve. I guess I did better than I thought though as competition was really tough and I still walked away in the number one spot. As usual I had some wine before my night show routine to calm my nerves (I’m always super nervous) and help my vascularity.
Now that it’s all over I’m on vacation in Hawaii to spend some needed time with my son and some R&R. He’s 7 and eats like me and can almost swim as good as me! Once I get back it’s back on the diet and preparation for the All Forces Nationals on October 25th. I’ll keep everyone posted on that. Until then it’s relaxing for two more weeks then back to EAT, SLEEP, LIFT…REPEAT!!!
