Thought I would add another update. Holding strong with 8lbs increase. No increase in my waist or BF%.

The last 3 weeks I have had no weight gain, I have increased my calories each week by 250. Now my daily average is 3400 daily. Upped my carb intake, and my energy level has balanced out. Still lifitng heavy and actually strength is going up on some lifts.

Trying to improve shape of my muscles, I'm a little old to be trying to add mass, and I'm not really going for that look.

Really would like to get 5-6lbs more before I start trying to cut down. Really want a nice 6 pack my summer.

So until the next update, take care.

Thanks Dinger.

Been there and tried that. High protein and had a lot of almonds. My last cut was for 8 weeks, energy never came back, I was loseing about 1 lb a week. But lost some muslce due to not enough energy in the gym to keep pushing through it. My body is so carb sensitive. My energy level is a roller coaster, depending on my meals. Have to be careful of carb crashing, spiked and then down. My current diet is high protein and almost equal amounts of carbs, just try not to eat any carbs past 6:00 in the evening. But energy is staying strong and lifts are going great. Wanting 5 more lbs by Jan. 1st.

I'm not old, its just anumber that I have to face.

right now my wife is having the same energy problem on low carbs.i told her she needs to up her protein intake and fat yes FAT. your calories need to stay the same to maintain muscle mass. also it may take about 2 weeks for your body adjust from burning carbs for energy to burning fat for enrgy. [ketoses]not sure if that is spelled right. good luck

Same issue with carb cutting. Take a look at IDS Waximaize. I think this could really help you out.

6 weeks in and maintaining a 10lb increase. I'm still pushing hard and keeping my calories about 500 over maintenance. I'm trying to keep my carbs up a little to assist in energy. Workouts are pretty intense, so I need that little extra energy to recuperate.

Strength is improveing and my shape is getting better, or at least it looks like it to me. I've decided to keep trying to add slowly until the first of the year and then try a slow cut to get my BF% to 9% or 10%. I'm going to change my routine up every 4 weeks, to try and shock the old body into growing somewhat. I've always beena hard gainer, especially when it comes to adding muscle. I can pack the lbs on in my midsection, but that not my goal. Not really looking for a number, just an improved appearance.

Really keeping my diet as clean as I can , but somedays its really tough, and my mind is saying why are you doing this. I just have to fight through those days and continue to move forward, It help, when I see the results of so many of my peers on hear,So they are my motivation, I just want to thankthose that have sent me the kind comments and support.

Well take care and until my next update.

Looking good, hang in there with a solid plan and it'll come. Make sure to "time" some of your carb and protein intakes for a max benefit.

Day 21

Well 3 weeks of hard work in the gym and working my grill overtime seem to be paying off.
Starting weight 172.4.
Current weight 182.8.
I've gained 10.4 lbs in those 3 weeks. . Daily intake has been
3200 calories
240 protein
250 carbs

So my goal was 10lbs in 8-9 weeks but I'm going to continue this and lower my carbs and keep my calories up and see how thats works.

Strength is improveing and I'm starting to see some changes in my legs, shoulders and arms.
So thats my brief update so still looking for any advice or comments.

Tomorrow is the end of my 3rd week on trying to grow, looking forward to some good numbers. workouts have been great and energy and health are staying good. Only problem is I tweaked my hip the other night in my volleybal match, should have know not to challenge the 6'5" guy. LOL
Kinda lost that joust. Anyway tomorrow is leg day so I'll see how it responds.
Hopefully I'll post some good results again tomorrow.
