Dear .live.laugh.love,
Was not able to find your Bodyspace page, so this was the only way I am able to respond. First, you ask how many calories a day I consume. Right now I am 5 1/2 weeks out from a Figure Competition and am consuming around 1750 calories/day….making sure to split that among six meals in one day. When I’m not training, I consume at least 2000 calories/day if not a little more. Don’t just look at amount of calories, but what foods you’re consuming. With each meal you want to make sure you have a healthy balance of Protein, Carbs, and Essential Fats. In order to lose fat you may want to cut back on the carbs, but not by much. Everyone has individual needs, so meet with a nutritionist or a personal trainer to figure out what amount of each YOU require for your goals. They can also help you figure out what supplements are necessary for you to attain the "ideal" body you’re looking for.
Next….without knowing what type of training you’re doing…..all I can say is CARDIO is the KEY to burning the extra fat. You say the inches are coming off, but the number on the scale hasn’t changed much. It’s possible that you have put on muscle weight AND losing fat at the same time…..which could show little change on the scale. This is why it’s never good to rely solely on the number on the scale. A personal trainer can measure your % body fat and tell you how much fat your body really has compared to lean muscle mass.
I hope I’ve provided the answers you were looking for. Feel free to write me anytime for any more advice. Best of luck to you and your boyfriend on your goals.

I’ve got six weeks to go till my first figure competition of the year. About a week ago, my trainer changed up my diet again. At this point I’m not allowed to have any fruit, peanut butter, dairy, wheat, and obviously sugar. My first 3 meals must contain starchy carbs and my last 3 meals are limited to fibrous carbs along with a specific amount of fats and protein.
Because I’m limited to specific carbs in the evening, I’m eating ridiculous amounts of broccoli and green beans……..about 5 lbs. per day to be exact. No lie. I don’t know when I’ve ever eaten this many beans and broccoli in my life. My masseter muscles (a.k.a. jaw muscles) are so tired and sore from chewing for 1/2 an hour straight that I can barely eat the next meal 3 hours later. I can’t even think about beans or broccoli without feeling nauseous. Can any of you relate to this? Because I’m so new to figure comp. training, all I can do is trust that my trainer knows what she’s doing.
I’ve also started using a thermogenic to kick up my metabolism a little more to burn off the last bit of fat from my body. I don’t normally ingest caffeine, so my body is pretty sensitive to the amount I’ve been taking. While on the thermogenic, I’ve obviously had quite a bit more energy than normal, but I’ve also been feeling a little jittery and my body gets these hot flashes every now and then. So much so, that I’ll just break out in a sweat while sitting still…..It’s Awesome!! Now that I’ve changed up my diet, supplementation, and upped my cardio, I’m anxious to see how my weight and BF% changes over these next few weeks.
Alright, time to hit the weights again. Can’t wait to consume 5 more lbs of broccoli today! It’s gonna be GRRReat!!!

I’ve got 8 weeks to go until my first Figure Competition of 2008. I’ve only competed in one other Figure Comp. (which was about a year ago now) so I still feel pretty new to the whole bodybuilding scene. Thank goodness for my personal trainer, who has guided me along the way.
I’ve just recently added 40 minutes of cardio a day to my training regimen in order to trim the last ounce of fat off my body. I’ve been fortunate enough to not have to worry about losing any weight. My problem is gaining weight and muscle mass. (Not a bad problem to have, right?) That doesn’t mean I’ve been able to eat whatever I want. I am still eating 6 meals a day, each of which are carefully measured to contain specific amounts of fat, carbs, protein, and fiber. I’ve had to cut out wheat, dairy, and sugar to keep my body from holding onto any extra fat. I still crave the sweet stuff, though I’ve managed to resist.
