I hate making excuses, but so much crap has been going on at work that I haven’t had time to get my bb.com fix in for a while.

Updates… I performed superbly in my coed game last week. Playing keeper, this amazing forward and I pretty much duked it out. It was pretty much like an AND1 competition between the two of us. He’d do some bad ass trick, i’d pull off a miraculous save. I owe it all to P90X. : D The plyo really helps me when I play as a keeper. And my confidence sky-rockets so I concentrate more on what I need to do in a game rather than wasting my time doubting myself.

In any case, we won, which is the most important thing, and my perfomance got me man of the match honors, which comes with a shirt.

As far as the P90X, phase 1 goes, I’ve been pretty faithful. Labor Day weekend was tricky because I called in sick to get a 4-day weekend (which never happens) and my friends and family wanted to do a lot of stuff that didn’t fit into the workout schedule. Needless to say, I missed a couple of days, but I jumped right back into the thick of things. I didn’t continue sliding backwards like I would’ve done in the past. The only thing I regret is not doing Legs and Back last week, because I have no week 2 data now. But there are far worse things in the world.

I’m thinking I want to get some supps for Phase 2.

I’ve finished every workout since my last post, so still doing good. Still fine-tuning my diet, but it’s gotten a lot better than what it was.

I have a coed soccer game here in a couple of hours and doubt I can get Yoga X in before so I’m thinking about squeezing in Stretch X for it.

So my goal was to show up for my men’s league games every week, stronger than I was the previous week. Well I was a much improved player, by my standards, this past Sunday, but the team we played kicked my ass. They could pass and move like nobody’s business, and they were quick! I hardly got any time on the ball. To make matters worse, I got sent off for something I didn’t even say, and if things stand as they do now, I’ll miss the next game. Right now, that game is two weeks from now. We have Labor Day weekend off, pick up the following Sunday (which I’d initially have to miss) and I wouldn’t be eligible until the next Sunday. I’d be in bad ass condition if I kept working out, but that’s a long time to be away from the game. Luckily I do have a basis for an appeal, which I will be making.

Another day at work with a computer, another day of workin’ out in the books. I have a bad knee so I can’t really wail on my legs like I should on Day 5 of P90X, but I got a good burn. Somewhere in the forums I read that a guy did Ab Ripper X before his actual workout. I’ve been doing that as well, and it really helps me power through it.

Last night I succumber and went to the favorite bar with my brother… But I was really good, right til the end. I drank water all night, and snuck the odd cigarette here or there. It wasn’t til closing time that my drunk friend bought me a vodka soda, and I accepted. It was only one though. And not even a double!

I had practice this morning, and the positive changes i’ve made this week seem to already be paying dividends. I played more like the player I want to be, and really never seemed to get winded like I used to. I thought my legs would be really sore, but that wasn’t really the case. I’m afraid that’s how I’m going to feel tomorrow though, and tomorrow is my first game of the new season. Please don’t be too sore when it really matters, legs.

p.s. I gave up Kenpo X today for soccer practice. In all fairness, soccer practice was 3 hours in the Texas heat, and by the time I got home, it was already time to get ready for work. I got a good calorie burn going though.

It’s funny that i’m struggling so early into making these changes. I managed to stay in Wednesday night, but I half-assed Yoga X. I really, really, really struggle with Yoga X. I’ve come really close to just dropping it all together and doing Stretch X in it’s place. An hour and a half of something you hate soo bad, and causes soo much pain is a lot! But I try to remind myself of the benefits, like how much better I felt in the past, after like 3 sessions. Well regardless, I only got through the Sun Salutations, which is better than nothing.

I went to the store last night and bought some food for the diet. That’ll kick this transformation up another notch. I just have a "challenge" with following a strict diet, working out, AND dealing with people. Work stresses me out, and all I do is deal with people all day! I tried to coincide my physical make-over with a spiritual one as well. I started reading a book of devotionals, but that’s sort of stalled. I’ve been doing more jaw and fist-clenching than praying. But whatever stressors irk me today, I’m going to take out on my legs! Since I failed to work out this morning, i’ve saved it for the afternoon.

So I got you updated yesterday. So my new plan is to start P90X again, which I did last week, but restarted again this past Monday. So Monday, the 24th of August was my Day 1 of Phase 1. I found some great logs to print out on the ‘net, put them in a nice folder so I can keep track or plan workouts whenever. I was looking to see if maybe someone had made some sort of diet log, so i could keep track of what I was eating, but no luck. I guess I will just have to do it the old-fashioned, hand-written way.

My whole reason for joining bb.com was to help keep accountable, and motivated. Not having a computer at home doesn’t really help me, but I do have a computer at work! And i’m at work at 5 days a week. So my goal is to at least get on here once a day when i’m at work.

So tomorrow is my first round of Yoga X (this is always the first roadblock), and also my day off (we’ll see where tonight ends)

Any other p90X people read this, start adding me!

Well it’s been a long time since I blogged, and I thought the reason was a good one, but now I realize that it was just another lame excuse.

The financial difficulties that come along when you are putting a parent through school, working a ****ty job, etc, etc, etc, often require to pawn laptops, desktops, guitars, etc, etc, etc.

It’s true, not having the internet lost me the ability to update my bodyspace. But it didn’t cost me the ability to continue working out! Just because my paycheck was going to bills instead of supplements, didn’t mean I couldn’t continue working out! I just masked all of these "challenges" as reasons why I couldn’t live my awesome life, and in reality, I was just making excuses.

I continually struggle with being an "all or nothing" sort of guy, and now, at 26 years old, realize that I’ve missed out on a lot of great opportunities in life because I figured i’d wait until things got "better." Pssh. To hell with that guy. I hate that guy. I want it now.

So, I originally joined because I wanted to improve for a sport. Last season, my soccer team, joined with a couple of other soccer teams to start a club. We were originally sponsored by a local brewery ( Hell yeah!) and things sort of steam-rolled and we’re sponsored by a lot of local businesses now. Pretty cool. I set a goal of becoming my teams captain, a goal which would require some hard work, but was also attainable. Well I earned the armband in tryouts, then sort of rested on my laurels physically. Well no more.

Nike’s doing their new soccer campaign, "My Pledge" and since I wish i was a Nike endorsed athlete, I’ll join the fun. "My pledge is to show up to every game this season, in better shape than I was the previous game!"

I had so much go on yesterday in my personal life that getting any sort of workout done was a moral victory in itself. It was a late one, probably around 11, but it was awesome. I’ll have to post the stats later, honestly I didn’t keep tabs, just tried to push myself as hard as I could without hurting the shoulder. When the shoulder felt like it was going to give out before the muscle I was working, I just tried some posing. I read in FLEX one time (I think) that posing can help work out a muscle sometimes.

Unfortunately things in my personal life seem like they are going to get worse before they get better. Hopefully my positive mindset can survive and I can continue working out wherever I am. That’s the beauty of having the DVD’s, is that my workouts can go where I go.

I really should do Yoga X now before I go to work, but i think I might wait til after work. All I really is know is that I’m going to get it done today.

Well I got the damn thing done today, albeit with some modifications. My ankle feels like it’s about 75% right now, so I didn’t push it too hard. My calves are probably one of my better developed muscles in my body and it’s astonishing to see how much muscle mass i’ve lost in my left leg since I sprained my ankle almost 5 weeks ago. I also had to cut out the bonus sports moves due to time restraints, but I don’t feel all that bad about it.

The only thing I think I could’ve done better on is my diet. I didn’t do bad on it, but I didnt’ do what I was supposed to do.

But I feel good right now. I did the hardest workout of the routine, and now I won’t have to face it for another 7 days. I have 7 days to improve the rest of my body, and attack plyo again, this time with my game face on.

Tomorrow is Arms, shoulders, and tris. I’d like to have some dumbells so I could really push my body, but i’ll make do with the bands I have. I usually take the shoulders a little easy, since I do have an issue with the right one. I’m sort of rambling here, so cheers to finishing day 2, and here’s to conquering Day 3!
