Day 1 (Redux)

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

So last week was thrown out the window after working that 11 hour shift without any sleep the night before.  So today I restarted Day 1, and for some reason, everything clicked.  Stuck to my diet reasonably well, and "brought it" to chest & back.  Only down side is i’m feeling a little groggy.  I think it’s because my body is getting used to the supps and clean food, plus the calorie deficit.  I know a lot of people don’t agree on using supps, but I can definitely see a difference when I use them.  I’m still just trying to find the ones that make me feel the best.  And as far as the diet goes, I remember the one time I did a cleanse, the first 3-4 days I felt like shit, but by the 5th I was in some zen state, at one with the world.  I know the diet will take some getting used to.

I think my new work schedule is really going to help me keep with up with my workout program.  I work six days a week now at a location with less traffic.  It may sound like I’m in danger of spreading myself then, but I really enjoy my job.  It’s easy with a lot of downtime, and I get to socialize with a lot of women all day.  I think working 6 days a week will help keep me accountable. I won’t be tempted to go out and drink and eat during the week or on Friday when I have to be at work the next day, and coincidentally, there are 6 P90X workouts a week, and i’ll still have saturday night to get rowdy and sunday to recover and prepare for the upcoming week.  I’m excited.

So cheers to completing Day 1, and here’s to conquering Day 2.  I hate plyo, but it helps my performances soo much, I swear I can get my waist to the crossbar of the goal after doing a month with plyo in it.

Day 2 - So far, no good

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I knew today would be difficult.  I didn’t get a minute of sleep overnight and worked straight through 10 am to 9 pm without a break.  By the time I got home, I was exhausted and now I can barely keep my head up.  I wasn’t rested, I craved crap food, and I didn’t put my time in.  Plus, I was hit with a bomb today when I found out that Spring season starts Feb 1st.  If all goes well from today on, I’ll only be some 58 days into my boot camp.  Ugh.  The only reason i’m posting is so I remember that I screwed it up after the first day.  I think i’m going to do arms & shoulders tomorrow and try to sneak the cardio session I missed into the end of the week.

The important this for me to make note of is that, shit like this happens to everyone ,and I could have avoided this if I had planned everything better.

Welcome!

Today I started P90X. Phase I, Day 1, Chest and Back.  The timing of my meals and supps were way off so I was little nausous. Plus my ankle (which I sprained about 4 weeks ago) is only at about 70% so it was causing pain, and my shoulder started acting up again.  It’s been a constant thing for a couple of  months now.  It’s definitely from incorrect technique when throwing out the ball when I play keeper.  I just don’t know how serious it is.  You guys who do P90X know when Tony says there are those people who quit way before they should because they’re scared of pain.  I don’t think i’m that guy, but i feel like that guy.  But since i’ve gotten older i’m always scared of getting injured and having to be sidelined for weeks.  When i’m injured I just spiral into depression and bury myself with junk food, alcohol and cigarettes.  I guess I should take care of the injuries since I am getting older and don’t heal as fast, and get the word "scared" out of my vernacular.  The important thing was that I got the whole workout done.  The diet went to hell and i’m worried about how tomorrow is going to go.  I think i’ll have to sub cardio X for plyo this week since the ankle is still weak, but i’m really worried since I haven’t planned my meals for tomorrow, and I work 10 -9.  I might just ask for a mulligan tomorrow.
