I feel bad I have posted anything, I’ve been busy posting on One Buff Dad, but also want to keep this up as a personal blog. Today I set a new PR for squats 345×3, yippee I still feel like I’ve got more in me too. Got to keep on workin on those bench presses though, some of the folks here blow my mind with their bench.
So, I’m beginning my training for the March show, so I’m like 8 months out. I’ve been plannng on bulking but am so close to getting the abs to come out I’m going back and forth on my thinking and end up at a maintenance level. So I figure one more week of wavering and then I start eating like a cow, (well not the grass part of it but just a lot I guess).
Well everyone have a great weekend!!

I’ve been pretty busy at work and now things have slowed down—I can update a bit more frequently. I have more time at work than home lol.
July 1st started our C4 (*Kaboom* if you like), I’ve also been slow on putting together goals. I’ve posted this on the C4 forum but I want to increase size in my arms and chest, increase some of my compound lifts, track my diet better and have begun or completed my ACE (American council on exercise) PT certification.
That’s right, I’m working on something of a career change. I’ll keep my steady gig in the day time but the beginnings of a full time fitness career will be in the works. I’d like to start blogging on fitness and hopefully get an audience from that and doing PTing on the side to start.
Today was a new DL record I did 345 for 1x, 325×3 before that. My 5×5 has become a 3×3—the schedule I have has me DL’ing 395 by August 13th but I’m not sure that will happen, I’ll be happy with 375 though! The squats are stalling 330 was tough!! Hopefully I can keep moving that up. Take care y’all.

So, I’m doing the 5×5 strength program –moving up the weights has been quite challenging. Today I was doing a new record in deads, well–the bar didn’t get off the floor! I was warming up with progressively higher weights and by the time I got to that new record 325 for 5, it just didn’t want to go! Anyway we’ll try next time.
In other news someone asked me if I was planning on competing, I had been rolling it around for some time but man that put me over the edge! If anyone knows of a good show for a newbie in the midwest next year let me know. Alright back to carrier discrepancy reconcilliation…fun!

Isn’t that a title to get new readers?? OK, I really don’t have anything to blog about but feel like I should keep the ball rolling here. I’ve started doing yoga every Tuesday hoping that will help my flexibility and prevent back pain and the like.
I’ve been doing the stronglifts.com 5×5 intermediate schedule. I’ve been stalling on the bench press so I’m going to focus on that and maybe add some more chest work. The squats are going great I did 305# 4×5 yesterday. Deads are getting hard at the 300# area, so wish me luck as I keep adding more weight!
In baby news we’re starting to sleep better (that is waking up only about 3 times a night). Though we’re fighting a sickness in the house.

Hey all, it seems we’re adjusting to the baby fog (ie sleeplessness and general insanity). Anyway today starts C4–hopefully I’ll gain some size in the arms and increase the bench press. Not sure on those goals but I’ll be writing them in stone soon.
During most of C4 I’ll be doing a 5×5 I found from stronglifts.com, I really like his site and have found a lot of good help there.
Doing this current 5×5 has been tough for me though, I’ve been having trouble with my bench press and no trouble with the squats. I need to increase the bench press darn it!! For no other reason than having a good answer when people as me : Dude what do you bench? I’ll also be putting up some progress pics soon.

Have a good night and great weekend everyone!

I know all of you are dying to know what I’m up to…
I am enjoying the BW lifting schedule. I figure I’ll continue this for 6-8 more weeks and then go back on the 5×5. I found a good one right HERE. I like that website too, he really makes sense and manages to avoid all the hype of the industry.
Eating OK as usual….some sweets here and there but overall I’m doing great. I plan to really get a handle on this when my wife delivers the baby. At that point I’ll be tracking calories and really knowing whether I’m over or under BMR. I’m gonna get that nice 6-pak!!
OK started writing this before I worked out, just finished. BWarren’s leg work out is insane. I love it. The best part is the 3×30 leg press. I was winded as a cardio bunny. See ya later.

Today I’ll be doing Branch Warren’s workout I talked about earlier for legs, it promises to leave me crawling out of the gym. Can’t wait! The other workouts have been a great change of pace for me…leaving me sore each new day. I found it on the Muscle Tech Site, I’ve liked it so far.
As for eating, things have been in limbo with the baby, I think we’re going into the hospital then we aren’t–so the times I think the baby’s arrival is imminent, we typically go out to eat and as you know, it’s often hard to find good options, or choose them when when they are there. Today I’m doing a low carb day, I did this a while ago and it really kicked off some BF loss. So I’m hoping that this will do the same, I might ever do this once a week. Man, I’m gonna miss the bread to mask the tuna flavor!!
Later!

Hey, no baby yet but one upset mama! She’s really had it with 2 weeks of strong contractions. We just want this baby out….she’s sick and b/c the baby keeps kicking her stomach from the inside to name a few issues she’s having a really hard time sleeping.
On the training front, my world (sort of) fell apart. I found out the bar I’d been using for a year was 10# less than I though. Oh well, I remember hearing once it’s not the amount you can put up but what it does to your body. It’s been unmistakeable that I’ve had some great changes. So anyway I push ahead just adjusting my lifts down by 10.
OK, so call me non-commital on my workouts but I think I’m moving from the (2 weeks in) 5×5 and going to a work out from Branch Warren that Trixter and Gemini Jedi have been doing and seem to like. I like the variety and this seems like something I’ve not done before. You can find it at the muscletech website under Branch’s info.
I’ve determined that eating + weekends = increased body fat. Especially this weekend with BBQ on the horizon. I’ve gota gota plan better but until this baby comes nothing is the same…so I’ll keep pushing to do as good as I can.
I’d like to compete about April/May next year so if any of you experienced types have a general plan if you are a year out from a contest for a newbie….let me know!! Thanks.

My wife has been in labor and then she wasn’t and then she was and sheesh! I wish this baby would just pick! Things have been crazy, I’ve not eaten well and I missed my Friday and Saturday workout.
I often feel alone on this but I know that there are a lot of folks in the same boat as me with a young family. But man, it’s hard to keep up a healthy lifestyle with all this going on. I want to get a PT certification and maybe do a show next year and I’m thinking how will it happen?? Anyhow, I just need to set up goals, but y’all know that if they have to get put aside for the family they will. I just want my lifestyle to be marked by healthiness.
In other news I went to Starbuck yesterday and Dunkin Donuts today–it’s a huge difference…so are you a SB or DD consumer?? A study called consumers of each "tribes" they seemed so different. Do you speak Fratalian or are you a donut and joe kinda person?
