Week 3 Complete

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Weight: 173lbs. Bf%:3.43

Ok. Officially 6 weeks out. Bodyfat is way low, which is a great thing. Problem is the weight also dropped dramatically, much more than I anticipated or wanted. So I’m going to have to tweek some things at this point.

First thing I did was carb load all weekend. More or less overfed I think, because I’ve been feeling pretty full lately. Hopefully, this will result in my metabolism speeding up slightly, but hopefully I will spend this week burning what I have stored from the weekend to slow down my weight loss, which is my chief intention. Sometimes this can backfire, but I have dropped a lot of weight thusfar in a very short period of time, and still have plenty of weeks until the competition.

Second, I’m going to start training abs more. I currently do them only one time a week on Wednesdays. I will start doing the abs 3 days a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and probably saturdays as well.

Third, I may have to bump up my chest training on Fridays. Currently I only do one exercise on Friday following my usual monday chest workout. However, most people already know that chest is one of my weak points. So I will attempt to throw another exercise in on my Friday chest touch up day to hopefully address that.

Diet during the week will remain exactly the same. No need to change what appears to be working I guess. I will see how this week works out, and if it’s ok, I will begin to carb cycle, either moderate carb on Wednesday and Sunday, or do a high carb on Saturday and moderate on Sunday. Finding the energy to make it through workouts has been extremely hard since I am doing the low carb for so long, so hopefully this will help.

I will see how this works, and see what I may have to tweek next week.

Pics next week as well.

Week 2 Complete

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Current weight: 176lbs. Bf= 4.6%

Well second week is complete. Some things I have noticed:

1.  I’m getting more vascular. After just a couple of warm up sets in the gym the veins start popping out my chest and shoulders. Good sign i would say.

2. Serratus starting to show. Another good sign.

3. Measurements have stayed more or less the same, except for the waist, which is also good.

Wow. Now that I look at it, nothing but good things to say so far. This diet is killer; I’m trying to stick with 2100 calories a day, while managing how much of it is protein and how much is carbs. Managing and manipulating the numbers has been my biggest challenge, and I’m constantly tweaking things up here and there. One thing I am starting to get concerned about is that I may be peaking a little bit too early. People at the gym have been telling me to be real careful about that, but I don’t want to take any chances.

Progress pics to come. i already took them, just have to upload them. I must warn you; I’m not too happy about the way they came out. But I felt a bit lazy while I was going through the routine and didn’t hold the poses too well. So a lot of the problems with the pics will involve posing.

Some upcoming changes I will be making is to start cycling my diet. Currently I am doing carb-controlled 6 days a week, followed by a moderate carb day. I think I’m going to change it to a 5 day carb control (low fat, low to moderate carb)followed by a lower carb day on saturday when I’m not working out (basically cut out the energy drink and post workout carb intake I would normally have, keeping everything else the same more or less, and then a cheat day for day 7. I’m hoping that I will benefit from the effects of shocking my body with the cheat day. I had one cheat meal today, and I’m already starting to get a bad sugar rush, so I can tell my body is reacting to this diet somehow.

Until next time. If any of yall have any suggestions, please holla at me.

First week of Diet

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Current weight, 177lbs. Current Bf%, 5%.

So far, I seemed to have lost mostly water weight, even though I’ve increased the amount of water I’ve been drinking to a little more than a gallon a day. I’m a bit disappointed that my bodyfat hasn’t really shown much change yet, but I do see myself leaning out, which is a good thing I guess. My abs are really starting to come in after just one week of dieting, and I can even see my serratus starting to peak thru. My measurements have also remained the same, which is my biggest concern because I do not want to lose any actual muscle size. So week one complete. I will continue with my current diet and next week make an assessment when I take progress pics. I anticipate stabalizing at this weight and only drop a few more lbs., because I don’t want to get to much smaller.

It’s showtime

LLLLLLLLLLLLLets get ready to rumbbbbllllleeee!!!!!

Alright sports fans, here we go. It’s time. My first competition. Started dieting yesterday. Hopefully I will stay on this diet and actually go through with the competition this time. I’m actually pretty proud of myself because I had more or less written off this entire year when I sprained my ankle. But I’m hard on my grind and real serious, so we’ll see what happens. Current weight: 182. Hoping to come in at the top of the lightweight or middleweight class, depending on how I look.
