lack of progress

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

I have been busting my buns this last month as I have been stuck at 225 for a couple of months and I want to see some changes. I weighed myself this morning and got very upset at my tiny 2lb weight loss.  I increased my intensity at the gym and added weights back in (I stopped with weights several months ago as my shoulder was getting worse). My diet is pretty good, although not professional/contest prep clean. I drink a coke zero every day, but it has zero everything. I eat more carbs than I should, but they are naked (no butter). I am working on my diet this month as I believe my gym routine is as good as it needs to be for now. I realize the gym routine sould change every few months and muscles need to be worked differently to grow. I am working on fat loss currently and am not overly concerned with gaining muscle at the moment. I do use Splenda (4packs) in my coffee 2 or 3 times per night at work. I bought a heart rate monitor to help me do cardio and the proper tempo. Any one have any suggestions for me? I will try almost anything to see some results. The only suppliment is a multi-vitamin, and I have plenty of energy at the gym. - Thanks

calorie intake….

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

It has been a while since I posted, but I have a question. I bought a heart rate monitor that also calculates calories expended. I put it on before bed last night and slept for 8 hours. I expended 700 calories while I slept. If I multiply that by 3, I get 2100 calories per day. My workouts range from 500 - 800 calories per session. I am 225lbs and want to lose another 20 lbs on top of the 84lbs I have lost over the last year. How many calories per day should I be eating? Should I keep a 40/40/20 approach? Since I am still obese with a bf % of 30, does it really matter that much about my diet breakdown? My diet has been getting better over the last year and is currently semi clean. I can’t seem to break free from Coke Zero, although at least that is better than the 6 pack of coke I was drinking per day last year. Any help would be great. - Wayne
