When I started working out in september 07, I could not even walk 1.5 miles. My first short term goal was to be able to walk the 1.5 miles, with a secondary goal of increasing the time to under 18 minutes (which is the required time for the army). Today, I did my 1.5 miles in 17 minutes and 57 seconds. I will continue to decrease the time untill I can run the whole distance at a 10 minute mile pace, then I will start to increase the distance. Wish me luck.

When I started my journey last September, I weighed 309lbs. I was unable to run at all and I could not complete a single unassisted pull-up. While I am not able to run as long as I would have liked to by now, I was very suprised and pleased when I did one complete unassisted pull-up. I know that some people are saying, "wow, 1 whole pull-up", but that is a huge victory for me and It will only get better. I an down to 240lbs and I will be taking some new photos in the near future. Thanks to all the people that gave me encouragement.

After staying at 245lbs for three weeks, I finally dropped some weight. I was getting discouraged by the lack of movement in the scale, but I kept on doing what I needed to do and finally some weight came off. I am down to 240lbs. I know that scale weight is not a good measure for fitness level, but when you are obese, seeing the numbers go down is a mental victory anyway.
