I don’t know about any of you but I was raised on a big breakfast, lunch and a hearty dinner……
As I grew up and began to only have to fend for myself in the kitchen my habits became less than stellar. Actually I ate only when I was hungery, and only what I felt like eating. After I became involved with my fiance and had my daughter, my eating habits changed again to eating alot of rich sweet foods very heavy dinners and curling up on the sofa in front of the TV after a long day.
Honestly until now my eating changed as a response to my life changing. It was not something I took a conscious mind to. Now that I am consciously trying to eat better I find myself on this meandering path that doesn’t seem to have a correct answer.
My current goal right now is not to become a figure model or a body competitor but rather to get healthy. I am not interested in suppliments or only eating tuna and chicken. Don’t even mention taking my carbs away.
I pick up Cooking Light magazine but I will admit here that I peek through it and then it goes on a shelf. I need to actually start using it.
This is what I am trying to do:
Eating more times a day with smaller portions
I drink more water and less everything else. I used to drink alot of soda but I stopped that and moved to Crystal Light flavored water. I put one packet into a liter bottle so even the measily 5 calories are spread over more water.
Eat less carbs at night before bed
Move my sweet snacks to mid day rather than after dinner
Cook myself using raw foods rather than buying prefabricated foods at the store (ie: cookies, cassarols that don’t come from a box) I can sweeten/spice them to taste with alot less sugar/salt than grocery store goodies.
Any advice or further ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!
