Bob Chick: No Homo or Yes Homo?

I suggest from now  on, instead of feeling it a necessary to declare ” no homo”…we’ll  automatically assume everyone is straight, unless they write

“YES  ,HOMO” at the end of their post.

This  could be taken the wrong way Bob! In all seriousness Bob does have a point. Anytime you see ANYTHING which could be miscontrued as a homosexual undertone on the forum it’s always followed up with “no homo.” What’s up with that? I found myself doing this a few times but then realized it was just another form of homophobia.  Regardless of your sexual orientation it just isn’t cool.

I do have to admit thought that seeing “no kramer” is rather hilarious and I’ll let you figure out what that means on your own. Anyway, once again Bob Chick is the voice of reason in the IFBB section and I tip my hat to him.

2008 BodySpace Transformation Blog Contest

Friday, November 16th, 2007
It’s that time of year ladies and gentlemen for the second annual BodySpace Transformation Blog Contest! This is you opportunity to turn that flabby ass into something even Jessica Biel might be jealous of.

While that may seem impossible you should see the transformation last year’s winner Vanessa Adams (aka DVSNESS) made. My g-d, it was like night and day. She went from a possible extra in Sir Mix A-Lot’s Baby Got Back video to a respectable placing in her first NPC figure competition. I’d post the pictures here but then she’d probably pull a Lorena Bobbit on me and I don’t want to be called Danielle if you know what I mean.
Man that was ****ed up. Anyway, please check out the application thread on the forum. Here you will find all the necessary information and the opportunity to apply. There will be HUGE prizes say STAY TUNED!

This year, instead of everyone competing for one grand prize based upon the best overall transformation, this year it’s all about meeting personal transformation goals. We’re hoping to foster a sense of teamwork and a supportive environment (rather than a competitive one).

Since this is an online contest, the five people chosen must have some demonstrated online skillz, meaning that they already know how to use BodySpace, upload progress photos, use the workout tracker, as well as have used YouTube and a video camera before. The rules and terms of the contest require several online tasks be done on a set schedule, as outlined below. During the next several weeks, we’ll be reviewing applicants’ BodySpaces, looking specifically at blog posts, progress photos, and personal videos. If you wish to apply, but don’t yet have an impressive BodySpace profile, please pimp it out as soon as possible.

RULES:

1) Similar to last year’s group blog, each contestant will need to blog every other day (no more, no less) in the 2008 Transformation Contest group blog about his/her updates and experiences. Any additional blogging may be done in his/her own personal BodyBlog.

2) Each contestant must pick one main, measurable, realistic personal fat-loss goal, and work toward completing it over the full 12-week contest duration. Examples of personal fat-loss goals: drop from 185 lbs to 155 lbs; drop from 23% bodyfat to 15% bodyfat.

3) All contestants must maintain active and complete BodySpace accounts. They need to be model BodySpace members, using every applicable feature, and update their profiles regularly.

4) Before and after photos must be taken on the start and finish dates (as appropriate) with a newspaper to verify the date, and must be also displayed in the contestant’s Progress Photos section.

5) All workouts must be tracked in the contestant’s BodySpace Workout Tracker section, and all weekly progress photos must be uploaded into the contestant’s Progress Photos section. Progress photos need to be uploaded every Tuesday without fail, this is non-negotiable. (Progress photos will be used in weekly update articles on Bodybuilding.com every Wednesday.)

6) All contestants must film one workout clip (and only one) each week and upload it via YouTube into the 2008 Transformation Contest blog every Tuesday without fail, this is also non-negotiable. (Workout video clips will be used in weekly update articles on Bodybuilding.com every Wednesday.) Any additional videos may be placed in the contestant’s own personal BodyBlog or BodySpace profile.

7) Video footage must be uploaded providing proof of the weigh-in or bodyfat measurement both at the beginning of the contest and at the end of the contest.

If you have what it takes to whip yourself into shape and meet your personal fat-loss goal, sign up here in this thread to be considered! The five contestants will also be given front-page promotion on Bodybuilding.com, so you can anticipate some great recognition from the BodySpace community, and considerable publicity from being featured.

The group blog will be here:

http://blog.bodybuilding.com/Transform2008

and the 5 finalists will be emailed instructions on how to participate in the group blogging environment. Let the games begin! (The contest and the blogging offically starts on December 26, 2007. The final five contestants will be picked on December 15, 2007.)

Prizes and cash awards TBA.

Be sure to ham it up for this guy, Richard Barnett (aka bbcom_developer). He has an eye for talent and it’s obvious what will get his attention. He’s into girls and loves showing the boys what’s up!

What if Bodybuilding.com started a product label testing and cGMP program?

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007
In response to a blog entry I made a few days ago regarding a company selling a fake anabolic I got an interesting comment from Bodybuilding.com CEO Ryan Deluca. I’m just curious how the members of the forum feel about Bodybuilding.com starting it’s own GMP and testing program? He’s all ears.

The idea is that the good guys would get MORE sales for being honest, rather than the other way around. This could be a good thing for the industry as a whole?

For you those of you who don’t know what cGMP means “certification of Good Manufacturing Processes.” Here is a good overview:

Under the final FDA GMPs for dietary supplements, testing and/or examinations are used to confirm incoming components and in-process materials meet their specifications. Additionally, testing and examination are required to ensure that the manufacturing processes were sufficiently controlled to ensure that the finished product meets its specifications and was not unintentionally contaminated or adulterated during its manufacture.

Why are dietary supplement GMPs important?

GMPs provide a framework of controls that are intended to:

-Protect the product from adulteration or contamination.
-Prevent mix-ups and errors.
-Let you and other personnel know what to do before you or they do it.
-Ensure consistency and control throughout the manufacturing process.
-Ensure quality is designed into the manufacturing process and products.
-Document what really occurred throughout the production cycle.
-Provide an independent group to make the final decisions regarding approval and release or rejection.
-Provide mechanisms for companies to solve problems, learn from mistakes, monitor operations, and continually improve.
-Provide products that meet their established quality specifications.

Company Busted For Selling Methyl-1,4-ADD Fires Back Against Prolab/Natrol?

It’s sad that the bar as been set so low on the forum that anyone getting busted for selling fake products who replies with “my bad” or some other weak excuse expediently gets a pass. Frankly, it shouldn’t even have to come to getting outed because they shouldn’t be selling fake or tainted supplements in the first place! Just the fact these actions get brushed aside so easily ensures that some other two bit operation will do the same thing. When it does, don’t say you weren’t warned.

If anyone wants to know what the Natural Products Association (formerly NNFA) is about have a read:

This is industry gold standard for quality assurance beyond just cGMP.

I am starting to wonder about all of these companies stating they are manufactured in a cGMP facility.

A lot aren’t manufactured in cGMP facilities, especially the grey market products. In this case, the DHEA laden product was not produced in a cGMP facility because of the following:

* handling consumer complaints, and
* maintaining records.

# Under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), manufacturers have an essential responsibility to substantiate the safety of their products and for determining that any representations or claims made about their products are substantiated by adequate evidence to show that they are not false or misleading.

# The CGMPs will help to ensure manufacturers produce unadulterated and properly labeled dietary supplements.

Anyone claiming their non-DSHEA compliant grey market compounds are made in a cGMP facility are full of shit. Also, cGMP manufacturing requires all RAWS be tested as well as final products to be tested for all batches. As you can see, if the questionable supplement was produced in a cGMP facility mislabeled and misbranded products would not have made it to the consumer. It isn’t a problem with who they get their raw materials from as you can plainly see IF they are cGMP.

That’s why the big boys in in the industry pay good money to use cGMP facilities. It lowers your liability and the potential for such “screw-ups” immensely. If anyone really cares read the FDA’s ruling yourself. It’s enlightening and will certainly ellucidate why some of who are actually cGMP get so “pissy” when some claim they are and certainly are not.

Any companies selling misbranded, mislabeled, and non-DSHEA compliant would be foolish to file a lawsuit in federal jurisdiction which is where these matters are handled. Beyond just the fact they are selling illegal dietary supplement in every sense of the law, the countersuit would be hard to overcome and most likely Uncle Sam would find cause for severe fining and possible criminal charges.

Anyone with a brain could easily apply the Lanham Act specifically section 43. You will see a company trying to sue members of Bodybuilding.com go down in flames because of this so get your marshmellows ready.

It gets good after this post and I must say those selling fake products should think twice before questioning industry leaders: http://www.forum.bodybuilding.com/showpost.php?p=94821873&postcount=279

Fake Methyl-1, 4-Androstadiene-3, 17 Diol Exposed By Patrick Arnold!

Friday, November 9th, 2007

So it seems another company has been busted by Patrick Arnold for selling yet again another mislabeled steroidal compound. I?m not sure if a lot of you are aware, but two companies were also busted a few months ago selling fake ?epi-clones? or known to the more chemically inclined as 2a, 3a-epithio17a methyl-17b-hydroxy-5a-androstane or 2a, 3a-epithio-17a-methyl-5a-androstan-17b-ol. Who cares if you taking unknown anabolics right?

What saddens me even more is that some are marketing this as an anti-estrogenic compound and bright enough to advertise this in major industry publication as being a highly anabolic with a great anabolic to androgen ratio. Frankly, I don?t know who is worse, the people allowing this to be sold on their websites or those irresponsible enough to sell this in the first place. We’ll save the full rant on this one for another time because the same company involved also sells research chemicals and is now using the Bodybuilding.com forums as a conduit for marketing for the “research” side too.

Anyway, yet another company has been busted this time for selling fake Methyl-1, 4-ADD (aka -Methyl-1, 4-Androstadiene-3, 17 Diol). The inventor of the steroid behind the infamous BALCO scandal, Patrick Arnold, has yet again uncovered another slithering snake trying to steal your hard earned dollars with an inferior product not delivering what its label claims. So what did the methyl-1, 4-ADD test out as? Dehydroepiandrosterone (aka DHEA, prasterone).

What’s funny about this same company trying to market DHEA as Methyl-1, 4-Androstadiene-3, 17 Diol is that they just showed up on day on the forums pimping products and looking members to represent their line. Did any question them? No. Even worse is that a moderator busted them using multiple screen names under the same IP address and once a few lame excuses were made all was forgiven. Will this just get forgotten as the thread exposing them gets buried? Probably.

A few weeks ago I ripped Steroid Nation author Shaun Assael pretty hard for falsely reporting the facts in trying to entrap Europa Sports for fodder to use in the ESPN article “To Catch a Seller”. However, the more I think about it, his perspective is not to be overlooked. There is absolutely NO quality assurance when it comes to what most online vendors sell. I?m not sure exactly what the process is for being carried on these are, but I must say it certainly doesn?t require that you at least prove your supplements contain what is claimed on the labels. It’s really sad to be honest and is a huge part of the reason why the industry as a whole is its own worse enemy.

I guess the moral of the story here is two fold. One, if you are thinking of buying a methyl-1, 4-ADD ask for proof its legitimate. If they can?t provide some shred of evidence as to the validity of their product then look elsewhere and be thankful chemist like Patrick Arnold are looking out for your wellbeing. Two, understand that just because a product is carried on a ?reputable? web retailer doesn?t mean its safe or even contains what the label claims. I know this may come as a shock, but most could give two shits about your health or welfare just as long as they get the sale instead of the other guy. That?s just the sad state of things and all I can do is shake my head at everyone profiting from it and too ignorant to see tell tale signs they are being ripped off.

If you are interested in finding out who the guilty party is please read the “call out” here:

MethylTest For Idiots

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Methyltestosterone is very hepatoxic. However, dudes will do anything to get big including using this. I wonder if I shit in a bottle and call it FecalDrol or MethylTaint if it would sell well? I’m sure some of these no-ethic webtailers would surely sell it. Anyway, here is how to properly take this compound, in theory. I don’t endorse this at all but am also sick of getting questions about it.

Here’s a sample dosing protocol:

Week 1 - 5mg (per day)
Week 2 -  10mg
Week 3 - 10mg
Week 4 - 10mg

As far as a good OTC anti-e goes  6-OXO or Novedex XT would work fine. However, since you will experience shutdown  you will need a SERM to kickstart your own test production. I recommend  Toremifene for that as it is a step up from Nolva and well studied in men.  Here’s a sample PCT dosing protocol:

Day 1: Toremifene 120mg, 600mg 6-OXO  or 3-4 Novedex XT
Day 2: Toremifene 120mg, 600mg 6-OXO or 3-4 Novedex  XT
Day 3-7: Toremifene 80, 600mg 6-OXO or 3-4 Novedex XT
Day 8-14:  Toremifene 40mg, 400mg 6-OXO or 3-4 Novedex XT
Day 15-21: Toremifine 40mg,  400MG 6-OXO or 3-4 Novedex XT
Day 21-28: 200MG 6-OXO or 2 Novedex XT
Day  29-35: 200MG 6-OXO or 2 Novedex XT

*I’d also recommend running SAMe  (400mg) and Silymarin (600mg) per day throughout. You could also use some  7-OXO-DHEA throughout as well.

Anyway, don’t be that guy who turns yellow because he was drinking on cycle or decided to stack methyls. Your liver will thank you.
