Supplementing with both fish oil and vegetable based oils is important if you aren’t getting the from your normal diet. Fish oil consists of DHA and EPA which take most of the credit for omega three supplementation. There are many benefits to these and taking fish oil caps is considered safer than eating a lot of fish as fish can contain heavy metals such as mercury which are dangerous. DHA serves a much more specific role than EPA so you can consider DHA supplementation alone through green algae sources. One drawback of fish oil though is that the concentrations of omega 3 are low and it is hard to acheive a 1:1 optimal balance of omega 3 to 6 in your diet.
Vegetable oils are also another great source of EFA’s. The form of omega three in flax is ALA which is beneficial as well to anyone. A lot fish oil users claim it’s superiority to vegetable oils because of the poor conversion of ALA to DHA. However, the body only needs a small amount of DHA to benefit from it. ALA is also very important stand alone and is why one should consider both fish and vegetarian (flax oil, almonds, natural peanut butter) sources of omega three. Calorically speaking, it is much easier to fullfill your daily fat intake requirements using vegetable based oils.
One thing which flax contains and fish oil does not are lignans. Lignans are phytoestrogens which bind to estrogen receptors in the body. Some claim flax oil increases estrogen production in men. However, this popular misconception isn’t true. Although phytoestrogens can also bind to estrogen receptors, their estrogenic activity is much weaker than endogenous estrogens, and they may actually block or antagonize the effects of estrogen in some tissues.
Bottom line, is that you should try to achieve an EFA intake that incorporates ALA, DHA, and EPA. Furthermore, you should try to achieve a balance of 1:1 of omega 6 to omega 3’s. However, anything less than 5:1 is considered good by most nutritionists. That typical American diet is 30:1. This imbalance promotes inflammation due to the excessive intake of omega six. The higher the omega 3 content in your diet the more it combats this as omega three is an anti-inflammatory.
However, too much pure DHA/EPA can also be negative in attenuating necessary inflammation. Following eccentric motion, some inflammation is necessary for hypertrophy to occur. Too much of this will limit positive inflammation and cause a host of other physiological imbalances. If you are going to supplement wit pure fish oil use no more than a gram a day of EPA/DHA unless directed to by a physician.
Here are some great references:.

I’d recommend NOW, Natrol, or S.A.N. Triple Strength Fish Fats to get your EPA/DHA requirements. I’d look into Udo’s Choice Blend Oil or Barlean’s Flax oil to meet your EFA needs from a total EFA calorie perspective. The liquid oils I mentioned taste pretty decent in MRP shakes. One to two teaspoons a day should suffice. Other great sources of EFA’s are:
olive oil
almonds
almond oil
natural peanut butter
almond butter
cashew mutter
macadamia nuts
almonds
cashews
cold water fish
walnuts
canola oil
soybeans (in moderation)
soybean oil (in moderation)
pumpkin seed oil
As always, getting these from wholefood is always superior to supplemental alternatives.

Despite an obvious set back my training hasn’t suffered. I guess I’m lucky for walking away from an accident which ended up totaling my car. Eitherway, it has certainly put a lot of things into perspective.
Anyway, I’m tired right now and need some sleep. These damn reports I do for Gaspari are detailed so I’m sorry about the lack of discussion tonight. Have a good night or day depending on your time zone.

Be a responsible citizen and use an earpiece when operating an automobile. Some dumbass hit me going 35-40mph while at a stop light. Why? She was screwing around on her cellphone. Luckily my short stay in the hospital didn’t reveal any injuries but I still need to follow up later this week.
Essentially, I was stretching my legs and arms by pushing myself against the seat which saved me from any whiplash or hitting the steering wheel/windshield. However, getting blasted by the airbag wasn’t the greatest experience nor was having my car totaled. On the upside I have GREAT insurance as does the dumb twat who hit me. I’m also thankful I walked away from this unscathed. Lift your weights!

For short term, NO supps in general seem to enhance this, as well as sodium manipulation and in some cases, glycerine.

Regardless if im rude or not, I tell it as it is. As an engineer who worked 6+ years on math and statistics, and a back ground on biology and natural selection, I assure you my comments are 100% correct.
Im not saying every single man on earth dislike extreme vasculary in women. Im saying a vast majority doesnt. And posting a picture of a beautiful girl who happens to have extreme vascularity doesnt prove your point either because you just introduced additional beauty factors. If there were two identical twins. One had a body of a playmate, and one was extremely vascular, most guys would like the first one. Why? Because as men, we are evolutionarily programmed to like females with high reproductive probability, and an extreme vascular women does not fit that description.
Sorry, millions of years of evolution just proved you wrong.
|
Your assumptions are 100% wrong and your e-resume means even less. If you want to get into a social behavior discussion then perhaps you should restrict your model parameters. We are on a bodybuilding website so lets say this is our sample population.
Yes, extremely vascular women who have extremely masculine features would be considered unnattractive if you follow Desmond Morris. However, I can assure most of them men here prefer a women who takes fitness seriously and has a great body. This can lead to higher vascularity. Have you even seen a picture of Jamie Eason? If you haven’t she is now on the cover of just about every major fitness publication or at least has one photograph within. You can be feminine and have vascularity.
You see, there are other factors which draw our attention to a female and lead us to attraction. Since we have evolved to upright creatures as a method of the females has developed certain anatomical features which inherently mimmick what use to elicit the primal extinct to mate. Since mating was usually done from behind males were drawn to the swollen labia and the shape of the female gluteal structure.
Now I know this will be hard for you. Can you think of two anatomical features which mimmick these on the front of the female physique? Why do men find breast so attractive? Why are we drawn to the plush red lips of woman and why do they accentuate the effect with color enhancement in the form of lipstick?
Beyond your primal assertion of what men find attractive, some of us actually look to other traits for cohabitation. As our cranial volume increased as a result of bipedalism so did our higher order thinking skills beyond just primal urges. Complex social interaction developed as modes of communication in the form of spoken and then written communication advanced.
Men have evolved from knuckledragging homo rudolfensis’. Some of us don’t succum to primal urges and some of us certainly don’t base who we choose to "mate" with based on reproductive probability. Some of us have also learned that speaking in glittering generalities is rather offensive because of learned experiences based on our social interactions within this forum culture let alone the real world.
Perhaps you make the assertion that men like I have just described have evolved beyond yourself? If your educational claims are true then I feel bad for whomever made this investment of hoping you might receive a bit of enlightenment through a formal education. Essentially, you just proved that years in school can still leave you quite simply, ignorant.

Syntrax Lawsuit - A Promise To Our Members
I just want to announce to the public that the moment we are forced to give out any data about our members to Syntrax or their lawyers, is the moment that we will no longer be doing business with them. We will discontinue selling any Syntrax products PERMANENTLY. The decision will be final.
We will not allow a company to force us to break our privacy promises to you, no matter what. We will fight this no matter how much it costs, but if we lose, then my PROMISE to you is that we will no longer be doing business with Syntrax.
This decision is also based on the fact that their actions will damage our community, our reputation, and the goodwill that we have in the bodybuilding and fitness community. These things are unbelievably important to us and our future. We will choose to not do business with companies that try to destroy these things.
I’m still hoping that we can come to a positive resolution that can not only put this behind us, but help to restore Syntrax’s name in the industry. Their actions over the next few weeks will show if they are interested in doing the right thing.
Thanks for your support.

As mentioned before, I am noticing some definite increases in vasodilation. What’s intriguing about the effect is that it is not isolated to just my training sessions but rather throughout the day. It’s not intense by any means but it is certainly noticeable.
Before starting this log/review I just glanced over a bunch of icariin research but do now feel compelled to actually take a closer look.
Icariin (i.e. Epimedium extract; Horny goat weed extract)
A functional pump so to speak is something I have been interested in quite a while because in case most of you don’t know, high dose arginine based pumps aren’t functional despite a few skewed studies which have recently been released (Campbell B et al. 2006, etc).
I wasn’t expecting a heightened “pump” effect from this so beyond potential test boosting capabilities it is certainly welcomed and worth investigation. In case a lot of you don’t know this, but I don’t walk into many of these “reviews” knowing the detailed physiological mechanisms by which they work. I treat these as a learning experience and hope to ellucidate some of the highs or lows for you as well taking it one compound at a time.
Tomorrow night’s homework will be reading the following:
Xu HB, Huang ZQ. Icariin enhances endothelial nitric-oxide synthase expression on human endothelial cells in vitro. Vascular Pharmacology. 2007 Jul;47(1):18-24. Epub 2007 Mar 24.

By the way, if any of you out there have access to the Asian Journal Andrology please let me know. It’s one of the few journals I can’t access.

Despite low carbs and feeling consistently flat for most of the day I have noticed some increased vascularity and fullness since the second of starting ActivaTe. It’s nothing to crazy but certainly something to note. Not being a vascular person by nature I certainly do notice when my forearm veins are popping throughout the day.
I spent the entire weekend eating out of tupperware while traveling around Lincoln Park and the Gold Coast. It’s always a good time to get down there but it is truly terrible not being able to eat out. Chicago deep dish pizza is certainly a treat and I’ve always preferred Lou Malnati’s over Gino’s. This is depressing talking about this.
Anyway, I’m sorry about the short entry but other responsibilities are calling.

The poundages may seem low but volume training like this is absolute torture. I really a lot of novice trainers don’t know how to properly stimulate the legs and feel pounding them with heavy low rep training will make the grow. Here’s some advice, if you can’t do that and have your legs engorged with blood at the end of the workout you are doing something wrong. Most likely, not enough volume.
Now I don’t mean just pump. I can’t get pump running up a flight of stairs. I’m talking the type of blood volum that makes you walk like you have a stick up your ass (I don’t have personal experience with this) because its hard to bend your at your knees. This is when your legs are throbbing fifteen minutes after you rack the weight after you last set.
As you probably know I’m a huge advocate of giant set training as a nice shock technique. I learned this following some of Milos Sarcev’s training principles from bodybuilding.com’s own FitShow. I dare you to try it but just make sure you have a puke bucket close buy and someone to spot you in case you pass out. I’m being serious.

You might think this because tetradecylthioacetic acid has shown to drop levels of gamma linoleic acid which is an AA precursor. However, it also raises dihomo-gamma-linoleic acid which is also a precursor to AA. Keep in mind tetradecylthioacetic acid increases both delta 5 and delta 6 desaturases which catalyze AA. Since both the rate determining desaturases and intermediate are increased I think it’s safe to say TTA actually increases AA endogenously at least in rats.
In essense, it might be wise to start with a low dose of AA if wanting to use TTA because TTA will also increase both mitochondrial and peroxisomal beta-oxidation which would include omega threes. This obviously would enhance the effects of AA as well.
More and more I’m impressed with tetradecylthioacetic acid with every study I read. Hopefully, it’s not turned into a drug so we can enjoy it in our supplements without a perscription.
