Change

August 15, 2008

Change is hard. It is tough mentally and physically. I am changing my body one day at a time. Waking up and barely being able to walk due to leg workouts really is tough. The mental part is tough too. My training partner is having a tough time matching the intensity that i bring to my workouts. I love the intensity. I am trying to keep this guy working with me but i will not sacrifice my workouts. I need some advise…

I did it

June 26, 2008

Well i accomplished one of my many goals. I went to a water park and took my shirt off. Since i was a kid i have been self doubting and have never taken my shirt off at a water park. Sounds stupid huh? I went yesterday and although i have not hit my goal im down around 70 pounds below where i was. I felt like a rock star lol. Anyway I also faced a fear i have with heights. I went on a 3 story water slide that s not enclosed. I was so scared ( laugh all you want big policeman scared of little slide). Its ok my buddies laughed too. I now have a new nickname "Baby Huey". i guess that beats my other nicknames i have received such as:  Sponge Bob for my lack of a butt, or cartman because i looked like Cartman from south park, or shrek.

its what you make of it

June 25, 2008

I love the saying, " you get out, what you put in". I agree with this statement. I spoke with a friend who is attempting to drop some weight and he was frustrated. Its understandable in this journey. After all, i don’t know anyone whose journey has never led them to frustration in some shape or form. I asked him about his diet, workouts, and sleep. He stated he has ate like crap (basically), worked out sporadically, and then not sleeping. I couldn’t help but laugh because as he was telling me about everything i believe it clicked for him. I think he saw what was going on. I understand and have fallen off the wagon a few times. I had it click for me once too then i understood actions were needed to correct the problems. The ability to choose ones path in life is a grea gift and an even bigger responsibility!

picture

June 23, 2008

I have had several people ask me to post a picture. The problem is i still have self doubt about the way i look. I m not where i want to be. I know its probably just in my head. I know everyone here is a work in progress, but i am still bigger. I am going to post a pic soon. I hope! lol.

Any way i was looking at my profile and i really needs updating. I was at my heaviest at 311 pounds. I am currently 247. im currently down 64 pounds. I feel really good about that. I have not only dropped it but i have kept it from coming back.

I posted the funniest video on my page check it out.

Karma

June 13, 2008

know what does karma have to do with fitness. NOTHING really. I never knew what karma was until i watched "My Name is Earl" on TV. Now i see karma almost everyday. Its amazing if you slow down and really look were karma is. Last week for example a call for help came i from a guy getting beat up. When i arrived i discovered the guy getting beat up had broken into another guys house. Unlucky for him the guy was a MMA instructor and kicked his butt good. Karma? I think so.I also see the good side of Karma. A friend who has been their for me during rough times has finally pulled through his own rough times and will see his baby boy for the first time sat. He was not aware he had a baby. The mother and him had a one night stand and she went to school. when she came back she and my friend got engaged in a fight and she never told him he was a dad. She only told him when she saw all the good he did as a volunteer at the local boys club and she thought he would be a good dad. Karma? I would like to think yes.

bad workout or good workout?

June 8, 2008

Last night when i started on the elliptical trainer i was tired. My legs were jello in a minute lol. no minutemen jokes. I didn’t set any speed records but i powered through my workout. It was a horrible workout if you look at the numbers, but it was a good workout if you count the fact that i stepped up and fought through it. I was really proud. I will get back on the horse today and hopefully be up to my normal self.

new record

June 6, 2008

Last night i broke my records on a fitness assessment that i have taken several times over the pas two years. I was pleased to be able to track my progress it not only size but strength. It has been a struggle to get over the plateau, but looking at my overall progress things are really looking up.

My assessment included running, pushups, situps, and weights. I think that some people (myself included) tend to get discouraged over short term gains or losses and forget the bigger picture. Ever step on the elliptical or every rep is making me that much more healthy and strong. When i was a trainer i would preach this to my clients that it was not a sprint but a marathon. Somewhere i overlooked my own advice and got burned out. I ended up leaving the gym and putting on a lot of weight. I have corrected myself and am on a path to fitness and i find that this website really aides in my progress. I can talk to people about things that my family may not understand. I appreciate all the comments and encouragements over PM or public. It is really motivating to read others blogs and see the same cares and concerns that i face in my life daily. I hop everyone has a good day and lift hard.

change of pace

June 4, 2008

I have been working out at home recently to change up my workout. It has given me a new energy and the same feeling that i got when i first discovered working out. I was feeling like i was in a certain routine and now working out at home has changed that. I have blogged about my new elliptical and how it is really good but i also bought a set of the perfect pushups. I really like them in addition to my weights. They really seem to work my triceps harder than normal pushups. If anyone has other advice i am always welcome.

lol

June 3, 2008

well all i can say is sometimes you have to laugh at yourself. In the last 24 hours i have had a minor automobile accident, had a pitcher of tea spilled on me while eating with friends, and about 4 hours ago was pepper sprayed while fighting with a suspect. I cant help but think somewhere in the world someone has worse luck than i do. lol. I am sitting here with a large smirk on my face. I know why would i be smirking, i will tell you. because life is great. Im not kidding. At least i am able to experiance all the ups and downs that life has. See everyone later.
