Jet Lag and the Gym

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Well, after two days of travel to come back here to wonderful Baghdad, Iraq, I find myself in the gym at 3 in the morning. I knocked out a few cable crossovers (Highs and Lows), a few sets on the butterfly machine. Then knocked out a few set of preacher curls sitting and standing.

Trying to get back to a normal schedule, but with having living locations, getting ready for the promoiton board and who knows what else comes up . . . I will hit the gym everyday even if it for only for a little bit!

Not to Bad a Day

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Well, went to the gym today and hit the crosstrainer for 30 min while watching the end to Zorro. Then hit the machine to work out the shoulder and back. Went to the crossover machine to work the deltoids for the first time, hit it hard too. Started of with an easy weight to get the feel of the machine, then increased the weight. I could really feel in the shoulders, good work out. I’ve seen others doing this and wasn’t to sure about it, was trying to stay with my old normal workout on the shoulder and back. I glad I tried this, going to put into my workout, help get even wider shoulders.

Afterward whet and got a new haircut, ok maybe not new, but fresh.

Deployment vs Home

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Well, things I’m learning about being home on R&R is what it will be like for me when I do return off deployment. On deployment having a workout program and eating habit are way easier to control. Being home I am finding it harder to control my workout and diet . . . time is not on my side. This is something that I have really work on and learn to change in my lifestyle.  My goal . . . to stay in shape and keep my weight down, so I can set the example of my kids and be there for them while they grow.

Getting to the gym everyday is going to be hard, though being in the Army we do do PT every morning. Going to learn to use the free weights that I have and really use them more. The thing I like about my wife’s gym is the day care, so there is no reason for not going on the weekend.

As for my diet . . . don’t like the word DIET . . . need to think more on the lines of my eating habits. My eating habit which have noticed that I eat in all the wrong place. All-you-can eat are really really bad for me, cause I have this bad habit of wanting to eat my moneys worth of food . . . BAD Habit!!!!

Well I am getting more in control of my weight and eating habit . . . thanks to BodySpace it’s going to be a little bit easier!

Gold’s Gym for the First Time

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Today the wife took me to her Gold’s Gym, they gave me a free two week pass(R&R from Iraq). I usually go to the gyms on the base (Fort Hood), but we went there because of the daycare(two kids).

I got on the crosstrainer for 30 min, then went and did shoulders and back.  In Iraq we have basic free weights and universal machine, so Gym’s Gold had a lot of new stuff for me. I had to go around and find new equipment to workout on. Ok, the decline bench was the same . . . sorta. All I know is after I left the gym today my muscles really feeling it, felt good . . . different.

Also got to see the Back Doctor today, they hook up the deployed soldiers when back on R&R. He says I’m doing great with the weight lose and learning new stretches to help strengthen my back muscle. This help with less pulling of my lower back and recovery too.

Jared and his Daddy

Home at last!

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Well, after taken three days to get home from Iraq, I’m finally here!  Yeah my diet is pretty much up in smoke those past couple of days, airplane food didn’t help.  Going to try to make up for it, but also enjoy my time home with the family.  I got 18 days with them before heading back to Iraq for another 6 months.  Wife stopped in to her Gold’s Gym they are going to give me a two week pass to use their gym since I home from Iraq (pretty cool of them). Wife loves Gold’s since they have a day care inside, I usually use the military gyms on post.  Hey, what better way to spend time with the wife then at the gym LOL!

My Alone Max for the Day

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Well, today was a busy day, getting ready to go on R&R here from Iraq tomorrow. I still went to the gym, but just cut out my cardio (did enough running around in the heat). Today on the bench I started stackin on the weight, really pushed myself.  Since I work out alone, I pushed myself to the point that was safe for me. Still, I was up to 255lbs on the bench with 2 reps before I stopped.  I even went up a little on the decline bench as well (205lbs).  Also did my arm curls, wrist curls, flies and tricep extensions with 40lbs dumbells (3 set of 10 reps, each).

Losing Weight and Gym Day!

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Well let’s start off at the gym, hit the crosstrainer for 40 min on 8 resistance. Got some neck machine (100 reps) done and some calf raises. I swear sometimes it’s like someone is watching you and jumps on the machine your ready to use next . . . so no leg lifts today, did extra calf raises.

Woke up this morning (my morning) jumped on the scale . . . .OH YEAH down to 226lbs, lost 4 lbs. I was taken that Metabolife (Ultra) and was losing wieght, then stopped. Just started back on it again and dropped more weight. I’m also down a whole 1% BF, puts me under the Army Standard (24%) for BF at my age, height and weight . . . 23% BF! My Goal is still 20%
