I want to apologize for not being around, as I will explain briefly why:
As some of you who know me or have read previous blogs of mine you know that my mother passed about a year ago. Without going into the gory details of my situation and as short as I can explain…I have not had the best relationship with my two brothers that have been left as I with the responsibility of dealing with my mothers estate and belongings in it. She left no will. Therefore the tension between us has been quite difficult as I am sure some of you can imagine.. or maybe not.
At this time it has come down to the end of the line and the house needs to be sold as well as the remaining antique items left in it. My younger brother who still lives there has finally accepted my help - It is quite a long story, as I am not asking for advice though I am sure I could use some however I do not believe it to be appropriate for me to discuss my situation here.
I plainly wanted to let you all know why I have not been around.
When all is said and done I will feel more comfortable explaining why this has been so distressful for me. It truly is consuming my life! I wanted to compete on May 17th for the Pro Qualifier show in S.C. and now I have decided not to do it … maybe its for the best .. I suppose everything happens for a reason .. and I so so so so do believe that with my whole body!
My life has been full of such incredible chaos … turmoil’s and just basically weird stuff! I know .. you say we all have .. when I finish my book I think some of you will wonder how I made it to where I am now. I do… and I thank G-D every day. Don’t get me wrong, it is a fight every day I awake to make my life to what I want it to be…as some people look at me and make a judgment that I must have it all .. or I always looked this way or how easy it is for me … WELL IT ISNT!! I know some of you understand what I mean by this .. those that don’t please listen to what I have written..
As I tell my clients there is no quick fix ( as we have all heard before), you must wake up every day and begin it as if it were your first day of your journey to get closer to your dream and goals.
I am human, for I sure do forget that many times myself. And actually it feels good to write this to you as a reminder not only to you guys – to me as well!
Well with all this being said I am still in the “process” of dealing with this issue. I hopefully will have some resolution in the next couple of weeks. I truly do hope you all get to read this and understand that I am not ignoring you or mean to do so. And yes I know as I have promised to get back to you all – I have not forgotten that! I will do so when my life gets back to …well I was going to say normal however those that know me know that there is no normal for me ? .. it is true.. it is my life … just this situation is tearing my heart out and it is quite different from the “normal” debbie life that I usually encounter. It is so very hard for me now being that this is so very personal and unbelievably painful.. I hope you guys understand and stay patient with me.
I am planning to compete in June I believe the 20th in Chicago Pro Qualifier – and for sure NOTHING will stop me from doing that show, nothing!
I do hope that you all are taking steps to reaching your goals, taking care of yourselves and most of all believing that you can do it!
And of course most important .. you know - smiling ?
I am sending out sky blue smiles today to keep you all happy and positive!

Ok, I am about to give the ultimate secret of Debbie Bell’s workout for legs. However before I do I want to let you all know that this is something you all have most definitely heard before and known in your hearts to be true, for it is!
I have been asked all my life though more so recently, how to get legs like mine. Well it is quite simple. And please note that as I say this I say it within the most humble way possible.
Yes Genetics plays a huge role to achieve the “calves” and mass of muscle in ones legs, especially for women.
First of all those of us that have been sitting behind a desk for most of our lives or have previous jobs unrelated to fitness, that all of a sudden work out for a couple of months and think that we should see results are quite misconstrued. I hope not to sound obnoxious or tell you that you will never achieve definition or mass .. however it is completely unrealistic and impossible to expect to see results for what most of us believe from what we read in magazines or from the media which proclaims that if we do as they say or buy their products we will see results in a matter of days or weeks! The truth – it’s a lie!! Though we always look for an easier way. A quick fix. To be honest – and I speak from my own experience – there is no easy way .. we have to work for it. Did you ever wonder why they call working out .. a “Work Out”? because it is WORK!
Even genetically gifted we all still do have to keep our bodies working. Working in the sense of doing what is best for our own bodies! As I always have said everyone is different.. and therefore needs to apply different workouts for their own.. which I will get to later in detail.
I could go on speaking of how messed up our society is – especially regarding the cr—p that is spoken in advertising…I will spare you all my babble.. and tell you the bottom line of what YOU All need to do for your OWN SELF.
First Ladies do not be afraid of lifting heavy weights.
(though that being mentioned this is for men as well) To give you all a bit of what I have learned over the years of my studies after 25 years of age our muscles atrophy. Unless we are taking steroids ( which I truly see no need for anyone to do such harm to themselves) We as women can and should lift as much weight as possible and still will not be a “buff” monster. – Nor would men unless .. well you know.
We just do not have the testosterone in our bodies. That being said, and no drugs involved it is imperative to lift heavy!
My Secret: - which I completely believe works very well. First note that everyone has a variation of fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers in their body. An easy way to find out which one you have more of is – if you can sustain a long distance run. Ride a bike for a long period of time – etc. this would be someone with more slow twitch muscle fibers.. someone with long term endurance. – someone who was a gymnast, can do fast sprints, anyone of you that can do high intensity exercises in a short period of time are those that maintain more fast twitch fibers … there is no good or bad from attaining either or .. for we all have both – though some born with more than the other.. both are beneficial to anything we want to do.. though it is very important to know WHICH ONE IS MORE PROMINENT IN OUR BODY.. FOR THIS WILL BE THE WAY TO LEARN HOW TO SUCCEED IN OUR JOURNEY to accomplish your goals!
To be as brief as possible My suggestion to anyone of you Man or woman that desires to increase muscle mass without artificial stimulation, is this :
Of course diet is the the obvious. however it goes hand in hand with working out .. and from my previous sentences understanding what type of body we have. .. which I will be discussing in my next blog, though most of all it is how we train our bodies!!!
Figure out what type of body “type” you have. Than I will go into further detail for those that would like to hear my knowledge on this… for now If you .. anyone DO intervals .. ONLY on the bike …. 30 seconds up 30 seconds down.. I use a heart rate monitor.. which .. well I will tell you I do not care for what anyone says.. it is the BEST way to learn about our bodies ..and how to progress.
Upright bike… increase the intensity to a level where at 30 seconds you are burning like crazy as you pedal over 100 rpms. Then YOU MUST recover … bring intensity down to level one pedal slow.. between 35- and 50 rpm’s. it is imperative that you make sure your heart rate goes down –as I wrote 30 sec’s down that would be the ultimate… for until you become conditioned enough allow one to two minutes of recovery –if you do not have a monitor than wait till you are not breathing heavy and can say a sentence out loud- if you do not allow yourself to recover .. you will not be able to accomplish more than just a few intervals – trust me. Do 10 to 15 intervals for one session 2- 3 times a week… build yourself up to it .. I will help anyone that needs or wants to know how to understand how important the heart rate monitor is or in another way.
Also Lift heavy weights. Use the leg press. One legged.
And for calves I would suggest jumping rope.
