Cardio Heaven or Hell?

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

There is one thing I hope to understand about most people and cardio. Why is it that when most people think about cardio there are usually negative connotations attached to their thinking?

Most believe cardio is boring, just something they have to "put" up with to achieve fat loss. Who made this so? Most people’s idea of cardio workout is running, using the elliptical machine or othre standard gym cardio equipment.

Why the restrictions? Can one achieve a good cardio workout only through standard cardio equipment? I know there are some people who just love these machines or running outdoors; nothing wrong with that. The goal is to find a cardio workout that’s enjoyable.

Gasp… did i just say enjoyable? A lot of blogs i’ve read on bb.com talk about how people endure their cardio workouts because it’s something they "have to do" in order to achieve weightloss. It is true that in order to lose fat one must combine cardiovascular workouts along with a thorough strength training program.

I believe a cardio workout can be very enjoyable. My cardio routine varies a lot based on what i’m in the mood for. I absolutely adore kickboxing, dancing and playing football with my younger brother. I’m talking 1-2 hr sessions of cardio that are pure fun. I make sure my sessions have varied intensity so i’m not just having fun but gettin the full benefits of my cardio workout.

I’m hoping to change some views about how cardio is perceived. Let me know your thoughts :)

Salt Water Flush(SWF)?…hmmm….

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

So a while back I was browsing the net for a "cleansing" program to help me jump start my weightloss. I came across this by accident actually and I was amazed when I tried it. So what is this salt water flush anyway?

It is a combination of Sea Salt (3 teaspoons) found at your local organic food store and purified water (32 oz or 4 cups). Some people prefer to mixture to be warm but i drink it cold because it is not the tastiest drink on earth but it works if you have the guts to do it.

What is it working on anyway? Well, the mixture flushes your digestive system completely by making you very good friends with the bathroom for about 2 hrs each day you decide to drink the mixture..LOL. My own experience with SWF has been very successful. I was very skeptical about a salt and water combination helping me in any way besides raising my blood pressure but surprisingly it has not. My mom is a nurse and she’s been monitoring my progress during this time.

What are the benefits of this mixture? Well first of all you need guts to drink the SWF because it is very salty and most of my family members who wanted to try this quit on the very first day…LOL.

 Benefits I noticed are:

weightloss  6 pounds in under 1 week..remeber this is a cleansing program to jump start my weightloss.

Clearer, brighter complexion, easy bowel movement (LOL),

Better rest at night, easy to fall asleep and wake up; no more tossing and turning.

I feel lighter on my feet, not so sluggish and restless.

This is something i committed to doing for 1 week to jump start my weightloss and so far the benefits have been amazing!

In the beginning…i was 213 lbs

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Wow so this is my first official post. I’m so excited about begining this weightloss journey!! This is not my first try; i’ve been battling my weight since…heck since i was born! i was born chubby and grew up to be an overweight young lady..sigh. The struggle has been quite challenging but what is most fulfilling is knowing I’ve lost quite a bit of weight already.

At my heaviest, I used to weigh 213!! I’m only 5′3 so imagine that on my small frame. So to date, i’ve lost 28 pounds which brings me to 185. I know i’ll reach my goal as long as i stay focused and break that long term goal into smaller, shorter term goals.

It won’t be easy but then again who ever said any thing worth having was easy??! I know  the body I was meant to have lies underneath a layer of fat, once the fat is stripped..oooo watch out…LOL. I’m going to sculpt my body into a feminine work of art.

Stay tuned for my progress….The journey begins… :)

Welcome!
