The Champ is Here!

On 13 MAR 2009 I entered the Fort Polk Combatives Tournament.  This was my first combatives/MMA tournament.  I have been training for about a month and I fought at the Heavyweight Class.  My weight class was 205-220.  I won the tournament by defeating 4 opponents.  I haven’t had that much fun in a while.  My new goal is to drop to the Light Heavyweight division.  I have until July for the next scheduled fight.  I am sure that one will pop up before that so it is time to start training.  I started lifting for strength again today.  I plan to do a week of strength training then the next week will be muscle endurance and explosive training.  It felt great to start lifting heavy again and I was fired up today.  I also have 2 great workout partners.  Sometimes the rest between sets is a bit long but we all motivate each other and it is worth it.  Who knows maybe you will see me on the UFC one day.  One can dream.

1st Day Back

I just returned from a trip to Mexico and I took 2 weeks off of any workout programs. I have returned to the gym and started my routine.  I was surprised that I only gained three pounds after not working out and eating terrible.  By terrible I mean cheesecake and chickens way too may times to count.

I am trying the Tabata Workout from Muscle and Fitness with a twist of a few of my own exercises thrown in.  Today was a smoker!
