Statistics :P. I think 75% is a very inflated number. The point I take away from this is that our kids need more help than we may have thought. And that we, as a society, should re-evaluate how we are to do that and what our priorities are. Does this "report" carry any less weight if the numers change to 50%?

Judging by the kids I see, it's most of the youth, not just those interested in military service.

I'm wondering how skewed this is. Now, are they talking about ALL of the nation's youth, or just those who try to sign into the military?

Well it's certainly in line with other stats on literacy and obesity. It really is a shame that there is such an incredible amount of ignorance/ambivilance regarding healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Heck, just this last weekend my nieces and nephews (all under 10) told me sugar free was healthy! Of course I took the time to explain why they were wrong but it shows how much emphasis in put on nutrition in schools and at home.

The issues of sustainable farming and super-sized American eating were interesting. I've thought about this before in light of all the protein that bodybuilders waste down the toilet.

The bigger question wasn't in there: what is a sustainable American or world population? No one wants to go there.

Hey good post, Dave. I've been heading in this direction, too. I'm doing the organic thing and starting to explore the local food choices in my area.
