Inspirational…
A new change on bodyspace, no longer do we have a “Top Six”. In it’s place we have “inspirational profiles”. It’s just smoke and mirrors for another “Top Six”. In my humble, knuckle-dragging opinion bodyspace missed the opportunity to move away from the popularity contest atmosphere that has become so prevalent on this site. Instead there was little change to the top profiles. In fact, it’s become a somewhat incestuous affair where several of the top profiles mark each other as each others inspiration in an apparent “who can kiss the others ass more” contest. It appears we are in for more of the same videos of bad form on exercises, advertising for personal businesses, watch me bend over for the camera and pretend I’m working out shenanigans that have been the subject on the main page for so long. That’s too bad. It takes away from the hard work, genuine desire to help one another and motivation of the both some of the top profiles and many more throughout this site.

you bring up good points but at the same time anyone can be an inspiration for anyone, ya know?

hell yeah bro! i completely agree with what you said. i’m sick of all these people trying to promote their business on here when this website has guys/women who are 100 times more knowledgeable and look better than the top6. bodyspace was designed to help people without making $$ of of it. these are real people who need advice and help and deserve to be treated well, and not pay money to have someone who just started in the game trying to teach them lessons. if you want to make money, leave the site and become a trainer at the gym.

I do agree with you and I am disapointed that this seems like another popularity contest and a lot of good deserving people are being left out. It made one of my friends here really disgusted and he left bb.com and closed his account. But by the same token, there are a lot of folke here who have helped keep me motivated to achieve my goals and they do deserve some kind of recognition but this new thing here on the site is a mixed bag.

OMG the people promoting their business drive me nuts!! I get PMs dailt about it, I jusy delete them w/o reply but its still annoying. I dont concern myself w/ being the top profile but I LOVE that I in any small way can inspire/help people so when I get a PM about that I’m more than happy to reply

I do believe that it’s just another popularity contest as well. And you could make the argument that it’s nice to show normal people that they are an inspiration to you, but there are other ways that this can be accomplished. It’s a heck of a lot more meaningful if I get a PM or a comment on my wall than if I’ve got yet another box on my profile with a bunch of names in it.

I sent an email to the people at bb.com telling them that there are too many popularity
categories on the site and that some of the photos posted in those categories are sending out the wrong message. I suggested that they dump a few of those categories. I have to give credit where credit is due. They responded back to me almost immediately and told me that they were going to dump the most popular men and women and they did.
Now that they are down to the inspirational category it created a new problem. Now I have folks who have never visited my page sending me private messages begging me to vote for them. In my next email to bb.com, I am going to ask them to initiate a "BLOCK" or "IGNORE MEMBER" feature.

Great Blog Entry Man! I appreciate your view and agree! I dislike the popularity contest theme. I also dislike the advertising. I hope the Admins listen to complaints and I hope they enforce their own guidelines which clearly state you can mention a website, but you cannot advertise in your goals or signature and you can’t sell t-shirts (LOL). Maybe the next should be the Top 6 Money Makers from BodySpace!!! This seems to be a growing concern of many members. How can we most effectively let our views be known to the Admins? BodySpace should be a place you can some to SHARE advice and motivation, not SELL it!

Yeh its all about popularity. Just like high school. The popular ones get all the attention and the ones of us working our asses off are stuck in the corner. Nice post
