Recovery
Saturday, March 22nd, 2008I finally misjudged my ability to recover from a workout. Last Friday I worked legs with my wife. It was the first time that I had done deep squats in several weeks. I felt strong and picked up where I left off the last squat day. We also decided to throw some sumo deadlift in and hack squats. It was a good workout day (It’s posted under workouts on my profile). The problem is that typically it takes two days to fully recover for me normally after a good legs day. The first day I’m mildly sore and the second generally very sore and finally on the third day I’m back and ready to go…not this time. I had the weekend to recover, stretched and warmed up my legs on Sunday and Monday and still nothing. Monday night I had a league basketball game and couldn’t coax anything out of my legs. I scored half of my per game average and was still hurting the next day. I’m still not 100% sure what hit me because that workout was not out of the ordinary but the recovery ended up taking twice as long as usual.
