Dexter Jackson-2008 Mr. Olympia

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

This subject may have already been blogged to death already, but I just want to say that I am absolutely blown away…and ecstatic that the IFBB/Olympia has made stayed true to the coarse of direction that they’ve started on a few years back in recognizing and awarding the men’s physiques on size AND overall aesthetics as opposed to mostly just size.  I love both Ronnie and Jay’s size, and personally thought that Jays shape was the best.  But, that being said, when it comes to vascularity and deep cuts…Dexter’s physique is otherworldly.  So Kudos to the panel, and way to go Dex!

Bodybuilding Injuries

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I’ve just recently come back to hitting the weights after about 3 months off due to a bruised wrist tendon (o.k., hold the jokes), which is actually my first bodybuilding-related injury.  When it happened I tried to work through it, thinking it may just work itself out—which I now know is a very stupid way to go about it.  Had I known better, like those that have suffered any kind of weight training injuries do, it only gets worse.  After a few months off (doctor’s orders) I’m back in full swing.  Oddly enough, starting back hasn’t been all that difficult. And, I’m now back to about 95% strength after only one week.  Going forward, I’ll be wearing the lifting gloves with the wrist supports and blah blah blah blah.

So what about any of you? Ever had a workout-related injury? How long were you out? How much did it affect your workouts when you came back?

Stage Competitions

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

So, I absolutely love bodybuilding-the lifestyle and the results, but have never competed, or really given much thought to it at all.  However, I’ve always been a very big appreciater and spectator of the sport.  Well, I’m starting to give it some serious thought, and will be looking into some upcoming events.  Other than my usual rigorous routine, I’ve never really built up or dieted down to a true contest-ready physique.  I know I’ll love doing it.  It’ll be great to see just how much more I can get out of my body, as well as how much farther I can push myself.  My biggest challeng seems to be finding time in my very busy schedule to get in all 6-8 meals throughout the weekdays…but I usually manage to do so.  Everyone reading this can please feel free to talk about your first competition, as well as the preperation…or apprehension.  Stay healthy, and keep pushin’, pumpin’, and profilin’!
